This post we be edited with members ideas alongside their names.

Davidvaini: Best gun look-a-like.
benstern: Most innovative and inventive.
ALIHISGREAT: Power : Size ratio.

Accuracy?

Isnt there a "best shot on video" contest already going on?

There is indeed. Another ten days or so to go til the shot clip competition ends.

Heh, I still have to get the material for my projectile for that

I am talkin about the major Spufiles contest, the one that is held once a year and is run by PCGUY

I probablly wont enter, right now i can only use 70-90psi with the burst disk and 125 with the ball valve...

I will have to get a shock pump and a union for higher pressures and higher pressure burst disks.

I've got a shock pump but I don't slave away for minutes to get 240psi into my cannon.

30 seconds on my 160psi track pump gets an overpumped 240psi into there.

Simulation?

How about having a contest to see how can make the best gun-look-a-like.

For instance, someone could make a Inline vortex or cloud look like an AK47, or a M4a1 etc... Or someone could make a pneumatic launcher into a Bazooka or RPG7 or M203 or m79 etc.

The reason this would be a great contest is because It would be open to alot of people giving them a good chance (No uber 1337 hybrid of doom) but at the same time be challenging.

It would also start more creativity and more of a emphasis on looks.
I know if seen alot of pneumatics and hybrids and Inlines that aren't even painted. As cool as white PVC looks, I think this type of contest would spark a lot of creativity that would spread through the Spudding community like a wildfire.

Sounds like a fairly good idea.

Yeah, good idea.

Some newbie could make a pill bottle mini that looks like this

And beat a 12000ft-lb muzzle energy steel unpainted undecorated monster.

most innovative and inventive.

if its most inventive and innovative, if I finish my spud gun before 2009, I would probably win.
Gas-operated semi-automatic... I all need now is to finish my design and find someone to make the steel parts.

I would like to enter my stainless cannon, however it is not something anyone can make. You need lots of tools so I will probably not enter. I am looking forward to what comes in, this is a very creative group.
I,m not sure my tennis ball cannon on the handmade jeep would qualify either.

yeah but If they painted that 12000ft-lb steel monster or made it look different then every other 12000ft-lb steel monster it would be really cool.

simply put there is not enough cannons/inline's out there that have that cool creative look to them. There are like a few inline's that look like guns but are still a stretch and a few cannons out there that look like grenade launchers, motors etc but not nearly enough :D

I see a lot of people say innovative, and a lot of people agree with my idea. I do like the idea of innovative guns, just wait till this Sunday when me and my friend release our gun :D. I think my idea incorporates both the innovative and the creative side of spuddin.

Sounds awesome! :D
Mostly because stronger guns don't really get any benefit in this contest, as long as it is functioning. (Though I think a nice semi/full auto has more chance of winning than a vortex/single shot regardless of the looks)

You're assuming that is annual (I have never heard PCGUY say it was), and surely PCGUY should be making the decision, so you've sort of jumped the gun here.

Although Davidvaini has an interesting point, I wouldn't hugely recommend making launchers look like guns, for fairly obvious reasons. A lot of members don't live in countries where guns are widely legalised, so it's much harder for them to get involved with such a competition.
However, I'm a bit of a hypocrite really - I'll be doing that sort of thing with my next project. So, both ideas are good for me so far, my next build will cover both.
