Dart ammo

just had a really cool idea. i dont know if anyone has used this before but i was looking at different ways to make ammo and a lot of them looked like darts for good reason. what if you put a bigger header on the dart so that it would fit tightly in the gun and cut the fins to fit. This should be pretty good for snipers.

will post pics soon

Welcome to the Forum. Im exited to see some damage shots from that. Ive always wanted to make a "dart" pistol or something so that i could play darts the fun way.......................

Yeah well first thing they are suggested to do is to read the rules. :?

Looks like a good round, have you gotten a chance to shoot it yet?

nice dart 8)
but if you shoot it, do on a big distance because for shooting it from a few metres you don't need a round like that (just my opinion)

This is in the "How to" Database....
It should be in the "Construction, materials/ Ammo" Discussion

Though it does look like a nice idea. :)

this was shot 20m away at 60psi and it wnt cleanly into a garbage bin which is very thick plastic. second shot was at hardwood which just shattered the whole dart and the needle part got lodged in the wood

the darts are quite weak so they will need to be replaced after a couple of shots unless you are shooting cardboard. you may also need to reinforce the fins

I don't want to call your dart stupid, because It looks like it would be fun for a game. And atleast you've managed to get it to hit point first.

But that cork at the front is going to screw up the aerodynamics,
And the penetration severely.

Personaly I think it would be a much better post if you could build a sabot that it seperates from it freeing it from that stupid cork on the front.

A good way to make a sabot for it would be to cut cardboard with a hole saw type drill bit and keep the cut pieces from inside the drill bit and get them to seperate from that dart (which looks degraded).

Also I'm begging you, eliminate the use of tape from projectiles.

It will work better and be more interesting.
other than that, looks like a fun dart.

Thanks for not getting offended Vman.

I think you did a great job on the photos/damage pics and it's a cool concept to shoot that type dart.

I was just giving you my honest opinion which is what I believe feedback on stuff is all about.
