Has anybody tried it?

Looks Promising. Lighter than the usual sleeved pipe too..... Hmmm......

EDIT: Wait, Didnt Schmans SWAT gun have an aluminum barrel? This might have been the stuff.

I have a length of that stuff...never got around to shooting golf balls out of it though...literally had it for well over a year.

And it seems they also have Sch 10 stainless steel pipe. Same dimensions.

Sounds great, but I'd be more inclined to use sleeved PVC for simpler attachment. EG solvent weld to a threaded fitting..

Wow thats awesome pipe. I do think though that some brands may not fit, and that slightly deformed balls may also refuse to go down the barrel.

A golfball has to be at least 1,680" diameter.
This pipe is 1,682".
0,002" is a damn tight fit. So tight, that not all balls may fit (just like my 16 mm marble cannon fits only 30-90% of the marbles depending on brand.)

For combustions and low pressure pneumatics PVC may indeed be a better choice. But when you use beefy pressures, you'll need metal pipe.

I realize all that...thus the question about fit. And, aluminum or stainless steel isn't going to give any like SDR21 will, even sleeved.

Still though, that specific dimension for the pipe sounds a little too coincidental.

I just checked a bunch of different golfballs. They are all a consistent 1.682" diameter at the widest point, so you'll have about the tightest fit allowed by physics.


Other than that, the closest stuff Mcmaster has is 1.75, but it isn't cheap.

The balls may not roll down then, but they should be able to be hammered in.
Im sure 500 psi will push the golfball through

breach loading maybe, and i remember a member named fred made a stainless steel gun, you should look into it to see if he used this size

You could always sand down the inside, with a roll of sandpaper on the end of a long dowel, put in the chuck of a drill. It would take a godawefull long time, but could work.

Or you could just buy a hone and it wouldn't take very long at all.

wouldn't giving the golfballs a quick wipe with the old sandpaper be the quickest and easiest?

Too bad they don't sell any Sch 10 pipe threaded. Could you still take it to a hardware store and get it threaded or would the walls be too thin?
