U.S.A. IPLA MEET - SUMMER 2009

You heard me right.

Basically, all of the spudmeet plans so far have been highly localized, either in Las Vegas, Texas, specific states, etc.

I'll admit, there are places better suited to meets (Nevada was a good location, being there was a huge deserted desert to shoot in), and it's kind of hard to shoot cannons in an urban area, but there are countless areas in the U.S. that provide nearly the same opportunity.

I'm not committing to a meet right now, and you don't have to either, but I would definitely make a pointed effort to attend any meet that spawns from this thread as long as it had a good group of people going and it wasn't across the entire country.

If we get a list of members which tell us where they live, that can then be extrapolated to a 2 dimensional point on a map of the United States.

Then, we can calculate the centroid of these points, allowing (near) equal opportunity for all of those who want to go. Then, we just round the meet location off to somewhere near another fellow spudder. That way, they can "scout ahead", and just pack up the morning of the meet (that way at least one person doesn't have to travel ((too)) far). So, basically, whichever region has the most spudders who want to go will be spared as much gas and travel-time as possible.

So, what I need you guys to do now is provide me with a list. It doesn't matter where you are in the continental U.S., if you would desire to attend some sort of spud-meet towards late summer of 2009 (before school/college starts up again, preferably), post your name, state, and county/parish you live in. DO NOT give your address. This is a public forum, so just limit it to your county. Bullshitting is allowed, but at least attempt to keep it to a minimum.

After we get a good list, we can go about extrapolating where the meet will be.

I'll start. I live in Louisiana, in St. Tammany Parish (north shore of Lake Pontchartrain). I've been wanting to go to one of these damned meets ever since 2006. So there you go.

LIST
  • markfh11q - Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish
    VH_man - New Hampshire, ?
killjoy - New Mexico, Santa Fe County
    _Fnord - Eastern Ohio
    starman - South Carolina, greenville
    ckman - California, ?
    Davidvaini - Wisconsin, ?
    DonTheLegend - Missouri, St. Louis
    benstern - Arizona, Phoenix
P.S. - while saying you'll do doesn't comprise a contract, don't just blurge out "I AM SO IN" when you have no clue whether you'll be able to go or not. Try and form an educated guess as to whether it's possible for you.

Realisticly, I don't think I will be attending but for the sake of creating a member map (which I believe is a very good idea); I live in Savannah, GA.

And I thought we only had one member in Hawaii, and he hasn't posted in a while. Sorry for writing "Maybe Not" over your state, dude.

I live in Santa Fe New Mexico.

Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado... I can work with almost any state in the southwest or central part of the country.
I hope this comes together, I would love to get a chance to attend this thing.

If I can come I would be down with bringing my generator and air compressor to help out.

That's usually on the grocery list. I've got a 10 and a 26 gallon electric I could bring, but they're shite without a generator.

You're the last one I'll add before I go to sleep. If you can't go just say so and I'll take you off.
