breech, multi shot air tank, + more on any cannon. pics+vid

Today i built an interchangeable system to attach to any of my air cannons.
The system includes, a simple breech, multi-shot air tank, and interchangeable barrels .

The breech is made from 1 1/4'' pvc and has a bolt made from 1'' pvc
The bolt fits into the breech almost perfectally, and was air tight with a wrap of tape. t The front and back of the breech have 1'' couplers for the barrel and a gun to attach to.

The extra air tank hold air, until a ball valve is opened, then the air goes into the gun. With this size tank, and my bouncy ball gun, i can get 6 shots before i notice any HUGE difference in muzzle velocity.

One huge improvement could be made, store the extra air in a metal tank, and regulate the pressure going into the gun, for even more shots, and a more regular muzzle velocity over multiple shots.

In the photos/video below, you can see the system on my 1'' bouncy ball pistol... making it more of a huge rifle... lol

Sweet, you should add a magazine for even faster reloading.

Also, are you sure that opening the fill valve for such a short time pressurises your chamber to its full capacity?

I am trying a magazine, And yes... i have a VERY tiny shot chamber.. lol

and the fill valve is actually pretty fast... i can fill the chamber from empty to 100% full very very quickly.

Thanks.

have you tried leaving the ball valve slightly open and firing using only a brief pressure on the blowgun? It would work for semi-auto fire for a QEV, not sure about sprinkler valves but worth a try ;)

Ill try it right now....
Open ball valve a crack.... and "Tap" the blow gun??

That's what I had in mind. If the sprinkler doesn't reseal, try opening the blowgun a bit further etc. etc.

It dosen't seem to make to much of a difference... but i do notice a very little bit less air is being wasted during refill.

Thanks JSR 8)

(Wooo!!!! pointers from JSR!!!! woooooo!!)

Tis Quite a nice gun, I like multishot guns. For even more shots you could try using a hammer valve. Or for even more shots I would use a smaller bore. High pressure+low volume is better in my opinion that lower pressure and higher volume. Anyway, you've made some interesting guns, the only thing I have to say is that I think full metal guns are better than pvc guns in a few ways.
1) they look better
2) they hold more pressure
3) steel and brass is all threaded, so no worries about epoxy

anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your guns!

So it works? Build yourself a Tee magazine and you're sorted ;)

nice... I like modular designs

but to tell you the truth you can achieve interchangeability simply by using threaded metal parts...

all you need is a 3/4" QEV, a ball valve for piloting and a couple of fittings and you've got a gun that can use interchangeable barrels and chamber sizes...
so you can switch from 6mm barrel to 1" barrel or 2" PVC barrel in one minute

if you ever want to build something more advanced you can use that parts to build a semi auto or full auto... and since you can use higher pressures you can build smaller guns

threaded fittings and pipes are LEGO of spudgunning

Tee msgszine tend to not like bouncy balls. They stick to much.... and it jams almost evey shot....

I have to use shells. :-)

Or maybe you could lube it :P make things simpler.

Lube my balls???? dose not sound like fun to me.
No one likes slippery balls.
Oh for the love of God.... get your minds out of the gutter. :x

Will likes a bit of baby oil on his. Improves performance.

Repeater looks like its working well
