How can gamo make air rifles that break the sound barrier?
http://www.gamo-airguns.com/air-rifle-hunter-series.htm
From what i've read, it is impossible to break the sound barrier with a pneumatic
edit: Does anyone know what that "powerplant" is and how it works?

an airgun is very different than a pneumatic, look up "spring piston airgun" on google.

Its not completely impossible if i recall from a past post of BLB,a pneumatic can reach the sound barrier but for a short time and it may only be in the barrel of the gun, so it wouldn't be able to be measured on a chrony graph.

it is very easy to make a supersonic air rifle but the pellets will just tumble in the air when you shoot it.I dont know about gun laws in other countries(except Austailia) but i have a Hatsan model 55 air gun,1000 feet per second and DAMB! that thing rocks,it has a wood stock and a Ultra Optic scope.my science teacher said that the speed of sound is about 333m per second,1000 feet per second must come pretty close to that.

1000 foot / second = 0.919567972002655 Mach at sea level.

imagine how much fun you could have with a sound barrier breaking potato gun...
eh knowing me i'd just shoot a bouncey ball over the mexican border

Its probably because of the method of providing compressed air: they compress it with a piston as they are firing the gun. This heats the air, and because the speed of sound is directly porportional to the temperature, means higher velocities are obtainable - some of those launchers shoot at like mach 1.2, don't they?
