When i got to homedepot they didn't have any abs or pvc reducers. they only had the rubber kind. Can i use the rubber kind? i mean can i use the rubber reducers?

NO use only PVC reducers with PVC cannons and ABS reducers with ABS cannons, do not mix the two, i seriously cant believe a home depot doesnt carry reducers, you must not have looked hard enough, every one i've been to has reducers out the wazoo

You might of been looking in the wrong place cause rubber rudecers are on a diffrent row at my home depot. If not just go to some plumbing supply place to get them. Spudshot whats wrong with mixing ABS and PVC if you have the right glue it should work. ive done it on some of my guns and never had a problem.

There is all purpose glue that you can use on either style of pipe. So i dont see the problem with doing this. I wouldnt of done this though if all the parts that i wanted were aviable in the same style of pipe. I wouldnt recommend this though unless neccesary.

throw that all purpose cement in the trash, its not good for either pvc or abs cannons in my opinion. Ive had barrels fly off because of that crap, and i dont reccomend mixing abs/pvc either just like spudshot said the plastic wont fully melt together, you might as well use superglue and elmers glue.

Industrial grade cement is the way to go man, its clear, doesnt leave that yellow crap mess all over the place. Purple primer is for newbs, it works great it just looks messy.

i only use industrial grade clear cement and clear primer, it gives it the strongest, cleanest look you can get.

When cementing PVC or ABS together you must realize that cements are made specific to the plastic composition. You are actually creating a chemical weld between two fittings, not just simply gluing them together (this gives it a reliable pressure rating). All purpose cement sacrifices the specific chemicals that work with pvc or abs to replace them with common ones that work with both plastics, thus creating a weaker bond.
