Im making my first air powered rifle. I have the plans all done but I need to know two things first:

1) For a 24V Solenoid rain bird valve, what batterys can I run it off of. Is 3 9V too much or will it work?

2) How much PSI will a 1 1/2 foot long and 1/4 foot diamiter (inside of pbc) pbc tank be able to hold at max?

Sorry if its unclear I can explain if needed

1)3 will work but it will be cheaper over time to mod it with a blo gun and it also increases power
2)PBC? Im guessing thats paintball tank, I would say around 1000psi if its for co2 but why would you want to go to 800psi and how would you pump that high?

EDIT:You probably meant PVC.....so that all depends on the pipe you buy, the pipe WILL tell you what it is rated to, if it doesnt it is not pressure rated.

B and V are next to each other on MOST keyboards, so it wouldn't be entirely unlikely that it was a mistake.

If you meant PVC, then it depends on the pressure rating of the pipe and fittings. Good pipes/fittings are rated to 200+ psi, but most people prefer not to use more than about 100-125 psi in case of the possible event of a failure.

Three 9V batteries is what most people use if they're actuating a sprinkler valve electrically - In truth 4 or 5 batteries probably wouldn't damage the valve.

But, as MrCrowley said, you'll get better results and more power if you adapt the valve to work with a pneumatic blowgun. Modding the valve (as it is known), also cures some basic problems that the valves sometimes suffer.

And over time, it will be cheaper.

Yes I did mean PVC sorry for that. Also I have seen the mod for the sprinkle valves but I dont get the "blowgun" part. Do you leave that open or do you attach somthing to it and if you attach somthing what do you attach.

You can attach the blowgun right to sprinkler valve if you want to. Or you can attach a hose and have the blowgun wherever you want. Good luck, I just recently built my first pneumatic and there a lot of fun.

Ok what they mean by blow gun is an attachment for a compressor. It blow air out so you can clean up sawdust and dust or you can attach some tool on the blowgun such as air drills, mini circular saw, and so on. For the vavle the blowgun is attach so it vents the air equalizing the valve diaprame (know I misspelled that) opening the valve.

And people dont YELL at him about not knowing what a is blowgun. You where new once to.

So the end of the blowgun is just open ended and and the other end has a hose attached to the valve. Once the valve is hooked up to the blowgun do you have to have somthing attached to the bottom of the blowgun or can you leave it with nothing on the bottom of the blow gun and just use it as is?

If you mean "bottom" is the end that the air is expelled from, yes. Accutally, you want to remove\unscrew the end piece off of it to dump air faster. If you don't understand me(I don't word sh*t well sometimes,I know how to do it just don't know how to word it) check out "Modding sprinkler valves" in the how-to-database.

The blow gun is fine by itself but you may need a nipplle to conect it to the valve.

Some one get him a pic of the blow gun, and lets not confuse him with the hose and what not.....

Here ya are, a Blow Gun. Top part is the outlet and the bottom is the inlet, the hole that you connect to a sprinkler valve via a pipe nipple/hose barbs.

Okay, I figured out that I was just confusing my self thinking that this one part was more complicated than it is. Im good and ready to finish my gun now. Thanks for the help all of you.
