the last one I posted got locked before I got a definite answer.is cellular core PVC safe? I have made two combustion guns with it but i want to know for sure.

Read around a little, cellular core is most definately not safe. Pretty much every failure of a PVC gun I've heard of has been because the person used cellular or dwv (drain) piping. Only use preasure rated PVC.

Thanks i thought so but since i already made two guns with it i wanted to be sure. can you think of any way to strengthen the chamber so it won't explode

There you have your answer. Thin wall and cell core pvc are very bad to use for spudguns. THªey tend to brake easy. Cellcore is pretty much is a paper thin sheet of pvc over flufed up pvc that is like foam. Thin wall is well very thin.
You must never use Cellcore or thin wall it will blow after a bit and it is almost equal to a fragmennt grende when it blows.

Cell core ABS is perfectly safe for your average combustion.
As for cell core pvc, I wouldn't trust it.

I would rather suggest that you check out the documentation in the wiki, although with some searching you be able to find previous discussions on the matter.

The last thread was locked because we got about 20 people telling you to use 'pressure rated' components. To use cellular core ABS, or PVC is etchy. Since I started building potato guns my friends have started building them, and my friends-friends have also built them. Of them that built there own, the ALL have used cell core. Just like my ABS gun, they all leave there gun(s) outside exposed to the sun, and temperature changes.

Of all those guns the only failures have been end caps blowing out, and once where the barrel snapped near the fitting (it was dropped). Never a chamber failure and next to all of them have cell core chambers. IDK, what others are talking about, but I have never even heard of a chamber exploding from a reasonable source, rather fittings coming un-glued. (On SpudTech you would get someone with a post count of 5 saying 'OMG HOLY HAXORZZZ mygun just blow up!!!!! DONT USE CEL CORE!!!!!'), but that is about it.

So quite honestly you can probably use it, and get away with it, but it all depends on your values. The SpudWiki shys away from it for safety reasons, but here is the article:

Perhaps I could have a couple examples? I have heard of more pressure parts failing than DWV ones, even accounting for cleanouts. The only launchers I recall hearing of 'failing' used pressure fittings.

I have used cell core pvc for combustion chambers before and had no ill effects. I would definitely wrap it in a good layer or two of duct tape, and check your chamber at least every five shots it insure that it looks more or less like it did when you bought it. My local hardware store only has pressure rated pvc in 1.5", and has only smaller abs.

Duct tape won't do a fucking thing at all. This has been proven in a test conducted by a member of the spudtech forum.

Cell Core ABS will work wonderfully for combustion cannons. I have never heard of it failing and even if it does it would only rip down the side causing at the most a small burn. Just speaking from my own personal experience but it seems to me that ABS is cheaper and more readily available than PVC, making it a pretty damn good material.

Duct tape won't prevent the chamber from fracturing, however, it will prevent it from fragmenting in the instance of a rupture. Aluminum tape may be of some use to keep it from expanding and splitting as it is very strong and doesn't stretch, but it's hard to come by and very expensive.

It doesn't stretch, but Al tape tears pretty easily.

It won't easily if you layer it extensively. I didn't say that Aluminum tape doesn't have drawbacks, I just said it's a viable option.
