Does anyone know the legality status of checking a cannon into the luggage in a airport? I know you can check in firearms, but does that include a pneumatic or combustion launcher if it meets the size requirements of luggage? How about if the cannon is dissembled?

I am afraid to call because the telephone person might just say no and lie. When in fact they might be legal if you asked someone else higher up in teh airport.

if you could . take it apart as much as you can and put it in a bag with out any metal parts in it and they will not pick up anything on the x ray and they should not even check the bag. depending on where you are

I wouldn't try to sneak the gun into the airports carry on, especially in this post 9/11 world.
I don't want to be arrested over a supposed pipe bomb.
Which is exactly what they will think it is.

have a friend call, thats what i did for to find out if spud guns were legal in my area. Worst case senareo, they will say no, i dont think they will go hunt you down, but with the way things are these days i wouldnt evan risk it. Maybe it would be easier to mail it to where your going.
I don't think it would be legal to have a combustion cannon shipped with propellant with it. I don't see any reason you couldn't take either with you on an airplane with out the propellant. After all people like Gort that are in the business of making them and selling them ship all the time. Again maybe they don't ship by air. I bet if you asked them (Gort and other sellers) they could tell you.

If it is in the lugage compartment it should be ok. How ever remember you can not take any compressed gas on board so you cant take any fuel.
Also is it illegal where you are? If not declare it a fire arm for your safety and have airport security check it. If it is illegal just mail it!!
I have been of about 8 Trans-Atlantic flights and several inter-Europe flight.
!! WARNING!! I warn you been VERY careful you could get yourself in big trouble if you do something dumb!!

I really don't think that a pneumatic would be illegal to fly with. It's some piping for god's sake. What, you'll get arrested for bringing some plumbing parts with you . ? As long as it doesn't have potatoes with it . I could see you getting in trouble for a combustion though, even without a propellant. The whole spark thing. Airlines have gotten a lot more anal about sh!t. I like the "get your friend to call idea." Fcuk him, he can get arrested !

I hate to complain but I have never saw such spelling and sentence structure. I'm not a whiz at spelling. That's why I use spell check. Some of these post are so bad, I have to read them over and over to make sense out of them. You kids are smart enough to build some great spud guns so I know your smart enough to do better on your post. I'm done preaching again.

Just call from a payphone like 30 minuets away from you that way you know you wont be found.
I doubt they'd hunt you down anyway.
