On some golf balls they have a inner core, witch is slightly smaller than the golf ball its self, this should fit in the 1.5. Or you can go buy a 1 3/4 pipe.

Are you sure that there is 1 3/4 pipe? If it does exist its proably super rare and its proably is not PVC. If you want to but a golf ball barrel look at my signature and click on the link.

Very interesting....Pimpman....There is quite a few stores near me that sell 1 and 3/4 pipe. And yes it is PVC. These stores are in Michigan....In fact I use this pipe for my golf ball barrel.

I just wrap some duct tape around the golf ball.

Well, since your problem is that your ammo is too large, you will probably have to try a smaller ball or cut it open and use the core instead.

You can buy PVC pipe in different thickness which will have a large inside diameter as well. However, the thinner class-125 is rarely used in making potato cannons as it is not as strong as the usual Schedule 40 PVC. (Imagining a barrel breaking apart when the gun is fired)

Usually, the main problem for most of us who use 2" pipe is that the pipe is too big. Wrapping duct tape around the ball is one technique (also works if you are making slugs out of D batteries) that is commonly used. Be careful what you shoot at though, golf balls at that velocity will easily go through oil drums and/or car doors at close range.

Yuandrew, sdr 21 is class 200. Why would you want a bigger bore - the golfball already has a few hundreths of an inch of space.

on the topic of gb barrels, do u guys put tpe around the ball to make it seal the pipe better? i know smooch does but with mt barrel the ball fits perfectly beu when firing heaps of gas escapes past the ball. i am not sure if it is the ball or the barrel causing this.
for a picture of the barrel see my cannon, 'the messenger' under submit pnuematics.
thanks for any help fellas

try this! get some 11/2'' schedule 21 pipe and some 2'' schedule 80 the heavy duty dark grey pvc. try sleeving the 11/2sch 21 in to the sch 80 2''.the out side diameter of the 11/2'' sch 21 or thicker will fit insde the sch 80 2'' pvc pipe. you will have to epoxy it in. it may be a tight fit getting it in :D depending in the pipe mfgr. but it will make it stronger and safer. and it will look cool. :) i got this idea at advancedspuds.com i have a pian in the making for a true boit action golf ball barrel attachmment for my hand held air cannon it will be suhmitted to the forums soon. i'm trying to figure it out!!

sch,sdr so what, i got it wrong!!!! i guess i don't pay attention to those two abbreviations much!! i'm a big fan of sch schedule 40 80 and the ultra rare 120!! i've been playing with the fantastic plastic (pipe) and fittings for 22 out of 26 years of my life. and i can tell you one thing thicker is always better!!!! :D ha i'm talking about pipe here!!!! the sdr 11/2'' pipe i have is actually sdr 26 is for my boit action i started today. you have to do more than just ''push'' the 11/2'' into the sch 80 i had to use my edge sander to sand the 11/2'' sdr 26 down. after screwing up a couple of times on the lathe today the and second screw up of trying to put a v grooves on the bolt for 2 o rings and gouged them pretiy bad and one came off and flew across my face through the garage. the third one i gouged and a couple of chunks flew off and one cut my face!! :x .... good safety reminder always use safety glasses!!....and that's what saved my eye sight today!!! :D i get more satisfaction doing things myseif!! :P
