Thats bs. As long as you have a newer model and is good quality it should work fine.jrrdw wrote:Was that 200 each? You didn't make the news this time. Wish i had spare money for wide screen anything, lol! Good deal man, congrats.......
The sales rep at Gateway told me flat screens where no good for gaming? True? Untrue?

Flat screen monitors are fine for gaming, just ensure the one you pick has a fairly high contrast ratio (at least 700:1) and a fast refresh rate (at least 5ms).
Old LCD's did not have fast refresh rates, which would cause a "ghosting" effect when you played a game. Nearly all newer LCD's now have refresh rates fast enough to play games just fine.

I thought it was different... my laptop has a 19" wide-screen set at a very rare 1440x900 (an 8:5 ratio).
You always assume it looks the same for everyone else, but that's obviously not the case.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
That 8:5 is a 16:10 actually.Ragnarok wrote:I thought it was different... my laptop has a 19" wide-screen set at a very rare 1440x900 (an 8:5 ratio).

That a normal ratio for widescreens on pc's
I know TV's use 16:9, but pc's mostly use 16:10 so dont worry.
I got a 22" widescreen myself (and a normal 17" next to it) and the 22"also has a 16:10 ratio.
I run a 1680x1050 resolution.

I also went shopping but I got the same size flat screen for 170 at circuit city
Thinking back I should have got two. Completely random tangent but can anyone point me in the direction to get the cord from a VGA output to xbox 360?

I got a 22" Viewsonic LCD. It's pretty awesome being able to see the serial numbers printed on the guns in CS:S, lol.
The only problem is you need a badass mofo of a graphics card to pump out graphics at the screen's native resolution.

I got a 22" lg for 350 bucks a couple months ago from best buy, and I've concluded thats its the best money I've spent in a while (my desk no longer sags like it did with my 19" CRT which was having issues due to the fact I accidentally dropped a .22 round in a crack in one of the vents).
I never noticed spudfiles looking weird though, but thats probably because I always have multiple windows open.

Anyways, those look like really nice monitors. I am buying myself a 22" Samsung monitor, because my 19" is old and bad (not really; I just found a great deal, so I will take advantage of it
).
And get that Halo 3 garbage outta here. Gears of War 0wN5 it

Hey PC, I got a 22' ACER with my new computer a couple months ago, they are nice. But I notice the huge amount of space on either side of the content all the time. I run it in 1650x1050. Though at the moment I'm at school using their tiny little 17' 4:3, poop.
Oh, and it's wonderful for gaming, I never see any ghosting at all.

I missed something.
EDIT: NVM, stupid sticking shift button... Wouldn't it be sweet if I had one that big though?
