I started out when I was 13 or 14... now I'm about to turn 20. I never really got out of the hobby. It grows just like people do so there's nothing to get tired of.

Well said... I hope I'll be able to say the same in 4 years.... because the laws around here are like a snare... the more you try to make use of them the more they are turned against you :? Damn government!

The poll is set to run for 60 days.

So far it looks pretty similar to the old one, apart from a dramatic reduction in the numbers of 13-14 year olds. Of course we should wait for a bigger sample size for all the active members to vote, but it could be that we are:

- scaring away the n00bs
- teenagers are more likely to be interested in less mechanically oriented hobbies

The second prospect is more worrying than the first.

Who could thought that teenagers are interested in cannons.
And off course older people make better cannons becouse they have more experience and have their own money.
But our time will come...soon

Yes that is an issue of concern.
I am 15 and have been involved in mechanically oriented hobbies since i could walk.
I go to a comprehensive high school that has tech prep class right beside acedemic ones.
I have seen the small class sizes that directly show little intrest in mechanically oriented hobbies. This also shows little intrest in mechanically oriented professions. So this lack of intrest just may predict the future, we may suffer from a lack of expirienced professonals in the mechanical workforce

On the bright side, better paid and more available jobs for those of us who are mechanically inclined ;)

that is the exact reason I did not become a tool and die maker, when I had to choose a career path to follow a while back I highly considered going for tool and die maker, but the trouble is that skilled trades people are being paid a mere pittance in this country so instead I am now studying computer programming...
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!

And when you do qualify, head West or North young man and make double the going rate in the mines.

Besides, all that open space to fire cannons and access to interesting nitrate based products...................
