HALL OF FAME
A catalogue of decent cannons would be nice.
No one goes looking through all the back pages of the showrooms looking for the good ones, they just get bumped up when someone sees them on the random cannon thing.
Nominating people or because of a person shouldn't come into it. If its a good cannon its a good cannon, if its not then a popularity surge around the builder shouldn't force it in.
*Hey look that guy off Jackass built a 8x hybrid with unrated toilet paper!*
*Woot! Nominate him! I love Jackass!*

How about the top 10 cannons of the month? 10 Cannons in general so that incl Hybrids,Combustions,Pneumatics,BBMG's,Mini's etc.
For the cannon to be nominated it needs to be nominated by 10 people and atleast one moderator/admin. The Mods/Admin then decide its spot in the top 10. Every month there is a new list. To start it off you should just put in 10 good cannons of all time...e.g clides slider and stuff for the first month. Then during that first month the mods will of gathered a top 10 list of cannons that month. They then go on display in the HoF for that month and so on.

Top ten cannons of the month? That seems like too many, especially requiring 10 votes from each person. I dunno, but it seems to me that there are usually not 50+ cannons made each month that people put hard time and work into perfecting. Especially not hybrids.
That brings up a good point, however, about having different categories. For example, no matter how good you make a combustion, a welded aluminum hybrid will beat it out almost every time (unless its a crappy aluminum hybrid, which I have not seen yet ).
I still like the idea of top 10 best cannons of all time. The question is, what would the categories be? Of course there would be a pneumatic section, a combustion section, a BBMG section, and a hybrid section. Personally, I believe this is enough. Once you start dividing it into mini's and the like, it just confuses the entire process. With these simple categories, no one will have trouble deciding whether to put a cannon in one category or another. I also feel we should have a fifth category, which would be labeled Other or Miscellaneous, for those cannons which are truly unique and do not belong in another one of these categories.
In terms of voting for a cannon, 10 people voting for a cannon is a good idea; I definitely feel a moderator should act as a final judge in a way. One question which arises is how do people determine where a nominated cannon appears in the top 10 list? For example, will it be number 5 of all time or number 4 of all time?
Anyone have any ideas for this predicament? We could just say that the top 10 cannons are not in order from best to least (meaning that all cannons in the top 10 are equally great), but who wants that ? Someone has GOT to have the distinction of having the best cannon in a single category

You could always have a side section to the HoF thats part of it with the TOP cannon of the month for each catogory.
To decide the placing in the top 10 it could be averaged.... e.g:
1st nomination person: says its should be #3 on the list
2nd nomination person: says its should be #4 on the list
3rd nomination person: says its should be #1 on the list
4th nomination person: says its should be #7 on the list
5th nomination person: says its should be #3 on the list
6th nomination person: says its should be #9 on the list
7th nomination person: says its should be #10 on the list
8th nomination person: says its should be #2 on the list
9th nomination person: says its should be #4 on the list
10th nomination person: says its should be #8 on the list
1st Mod says it should be #5 on the list.....
That gives you an average of: 5.0009
So it should be number #5 on the list.......then a mod will give the final decision if there is already a #5 or if he thinks it should be higher/lower

i think its a great idear and by having the best of each category alows new comers to see the standard of some of the top end guns without diving through the showcase were the order changes

well, there's his combustion paintball grenade he posted a couple days ago, and he posts real regularly on spudshot (we're moderators there).rmich732 wrote:I haven't seen any recent posts from DEMON... not that it matters towards the Hall of Fame nomination... just an observation
crowley, your complicating things WAY more than they need to be. the original idea, or rmich's idea are much more simple.
I mean, what's the point. if there are 50 cannons built in a month (which doesn't happen often) one could be made out of a tissue box (sorry, salty. ) and It would get put in the hall of fame. that would be stupid.

*sniffles*..... aww, thanks guys!!!! *sob*.....
I think demon deserves it, too.
how many people should be admitted?
20 sounds like a good number.
and more people could be added periodicly.
but not everyone, because then whats the point of even having it?
I'm really not trying to be a jerk, just pointing that out.
yay i had a good idea!risto wrote:someone needs to talk this over with PCGUY. I think this is a great idea.
