To all,
It has gravely come to my attention that member A-98, actual name of Bryce Pearson, has passed away. He was only 17 years old at the time. This incident was NOT spudding related, but rather a drug overdose. I was contacted by a friend of Bryce's who had been shown Theopia (my sister forum) years ago, and this friend found Theopia in his bookmarks and decided to seek me out to let us know. Bryce was not only a valued member of the SpudFiles community, but he was a moderator on Theopia as well.
I will leave this thread open for discussion and condolences.
Rest In Peace, Bryce

Speechless, that's just terrible.
His occupation in his profile is listed as "enjoying life to the fullest", I trust he did before it was so tragically cut short.
Sincere condolences to his friends and family.

That's... Awful.
Seventeen is much too young to die.

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Wow, this is almost a bigger shock than when he told us on Theopia his dad asked if he wanted to go visit a prostitute while they were in Amsterdam
I hadn't seen him around much or talked to him on the forums as of late but I remember him quite well when he first came here and especially of his trip around Europe with his family.
Hope my post doesn't offend, I've always been of the opinion that one should celebrate and reminisce someones life when they die.
Edit: Just noticed this happened a few months ago.

This is a shock. A lot of us have talked with him on Theopia as well as Spudfiles.
This happened on Oct. 1, 2010 according to this.
Be careful what you do out there...
Until the future Bryce (A-98 ).
Edit: zarnochwf1 Googled him as well.

It feels a little bit late when you're talking about it four months after the event, but it's all too easy for someone to just disappear from a forum with nobody ever knowing why, so we should be glad for those times we get to know the answer rather than just wondering "Hey, what happened to him? I liked him."
Despite the delay, my condolences go to all his friends and family.
I would say I know what they're going through, having recently gone through the death of my grandmother - but thinking it through, I don't. She was 92, a long and fair lifetime, but seventeen is unfair in every way - on him, on his friends and on his family.
I guess it should be a lesson to all of us that you don't know how long you're going to get, and you should live it while you can. Anyway Bryce, I hope you did live life to the fullest.

Wow I can't believe that post went by without anyone ever saying anything more about it. I feel a bit silly now just finding out.... the message still needed to be put across.MrCrowley wrote:Wow, this is almost a bigger shock than when he told us on Theopia his dad asked if he wanted to go visit a prostitute while they were in Amsterdam

I remember seeing that, but I didn't put "Bryce" and "A-98" together. While on some forums, I know many users by both username and real name (and have met a good number of them in person), I tend to forget that kind of thing on Spudfiles.PCGUY wrote:Wow I can't believe that post went by without anyone ever saying anything more about it.

Rest In Peace!
Was it a drug overdose as in "medicin" or because of the use of a recreational drug?

Wow, 17, that is really young. I sure hope he was ready.
I mean, I am 21, but if I had to die today I would be ready to, because I know where I am going. Of course I don't want to, I want to live as long as possible. But everyone has to die sometime, and nobody knows when that day is.
My condolences to his family.

That is very sad about his dad!
Just from that it sounds like he had a bad start.

Yes I agree, we should look upon his life that he lead.

We'll miss you A-98!!
Rest in peace Bryce.
I doubt this was from any sort of legitimate drug use. A-98 was pretty open about his drug habits at Theopia: http://www.theopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2202
Included in that thread is this quote by me:
So this is a lesson for people out there: Drugs are stupid. Don't do them. You're better than that.

I'm disappointed that I was wrong in a bad way. And I wish I could have done something to help A-98.A-98, I honestly feel bad for you. You'll burn out and flunk out based on what you've said.

All spud gun related projects are currently on hold.

I think that's exactly the sort of statement that will make kids want to try drugs. If drugs were so obviously just stupid, you wouldn't need to tell people to "just say no". In my opinion it is much better to teach the virtues of common sense and the idea of moderation. So this is a lesson for people out there: Drugs are stupid. Don't do them. You're better than that.
I digress, I don't think this thread should turn into a drug debate out of respect to Bryce's memory. He made his choices and paid the ultimate price, but for all we know he lived a fuller and happier life than many of his peers who will live to grow old.

no good person deserves to die at 17 but we all make our own choices. I choose to celebrate their life than mourn their death when someone passes.
I didn't know bryce but I choose to believe he's in a better place.
R.I.P. Bryce may you show GOD the beautiful hobby of spudding
GOD Bless
