I note some inaccuracies.

Obviously, ABS is essentially better in every characteristic except availability and sometimes cost. Pressure rated ABS sure does exist, and I can even get it cheaper than pressure rated PVC here, but it wasn't easy to find.
PVC really does win because it has most of the same characteristics as ABS, meaning it’s cheap, available, and easy to use, but it has one huge advantage: it’s pressure rated.
Fails to mention how the pressure rating changes in relation to the temperature:
PVC also works extremely well with temperature as well, because one of its uses is hot water line plumbing – it’s maximum safe temperature is 140 degrees Fahrenheit, which is pretty darned hot considering your spud cannon’s explosion last a fraction of a second, and while it might exceed that heat, it does so for only an instant.
Says to look for markings on the side of the pipe indicating the pressure rating yet it fails to tell us what these markings should look like and then falls in to the trap of promoting the schedule number as a rough pressure rating indicator.
Now don’t just assume because we said so here that all PVC is pressure rated – look for a mark on the side of the pipe that says so! PVS comes in a couple of pressure ratings: Schedule 40, and Schedule 80. The higher the number, the more pressure it can handle, meaning it will more than deal with the mini nuclear explosions you set off inside your combustion chamber.

Uh, guys, just as a preemptive strike here, let's not take the traditional spudfiles "Flame-Warrior" approach to educating these guys, seeing as how they are now site sponsors

Carry on.

I had second thoughts about starting this topic for that reason, I leave it to PCGUY to rule over what discussion he sees fit on the matter.

Haha, don't worry I just sent them an email giving them some tips and linked to one of our Wiki pages. They replied saying they will take the page down and fix it when they can.

I agree that this topic shouldn't be grounds for a flaming war but there's nothing wrong with picking up any mistakes and notifying them. I'm sure all they want is a site that correctly represents current knowledge and if they are enlightened of particular information via one of us; it saves them having to do more research

Hey Everyone

I am the owner of The site potato-gun-plans.com and I apologize for the article, I did a lot of research on the topic but clearly not enough. Once MrCrowley brought the mistakes to my attention I quickly took the article down until I can fix it. I only want people to be safe and have a fun time shooting spuds like I do.

If there are ever any more things you guys come across please let me know at info@potato-gun-plans.com

Thanks!

Nothing will win you support like the openness to constructive criticism, so kudos in that regard. Welcome to the forum :)

Hey thanks a lot!

I know the site does have a lot of things for sale, but I am working on trying to add a lot more information on the sport to the site including informative videos...but the videos will have to wait until the snow is gone as I am in Canada.

Well I think there's no doubt you certainly have put a lot of work in to the site. I'm always surprised when new sites like yours pop up; seemingly out of no where. It's reassuring to see that not everyone interested in spudguns is a regular on this forum; although we wish they were :D

Hmm, Having a look around the site, and I'm kinda considering buying your book. For me there's probably not going to be much new information in there, but if you ever want to edit and publish revised editions, having some senior members to add insight and ideas would be a great help.

Having the vast resources here distilled and concentrated into a book form would be hugely helpful to anyone starting out. I don't really know how much is in it already(no page count listed btw), but you might want to do a pneumatic edition as well, since some may not be able to build combustions due to legal or *parental* reasons.

I like how your site is actually educational for the beginner rather than just "paywalling" critical information. That isn't a very common practice from what I've seen and it gives your buyers the impression that you're not just in it to make a buck.

The book actually look really cool. I might buy it just to have a spud gun book! What a badass gift for a kid that would make. I saw spudguns are illegal in california, which is where I live. I can pretend I didn't see that though
