Intro
That's right. Think fast! Again!

I realize that it's winter right now (for our US residents at least), but jrrdw expressed some interest a while ago in another contest like this one, so I figured I'd get around to posting another thread.

Rules
We would be using the same rules as last time...

1.) The cannon needs to work. Video proof or stills/etc. should be included. You have until the end of the competition to prove it.
2.) The cannon needs to hold together for more than one shot.
3.) No cannons that are already posted can be entered.
4.) Only one cannon can be used by the end of the competition per member. Feel free to "practice" or get a preliminary entry.
5.) All forums rules apply.

...and voting will be done the same way as last time unless somebody can come up with something better (I have a key-pair voting system in mind for PHP on another server... but I realize that's a little extreme for this, lol).

The contest will last for one week from the time of this posting.

What to Enter
The same guidelines would still be appropriate...

1.) Average cost for a cannon: $0
2.) If you would otherwise feel the need to post it in the showcase sections, it probably doesn't belong here.

...but I'd also like to see some creativity with uncommon materials as well... just keep the first guideline in the back of your head.

Prize
I'm putting up a modest prize of $10 USD for the winner, if that winner has PayPal. Feel free to add to that, just know that I can't control how you get your prize to the winner.

So, grab the duc... uh, electrical tape (it would seem), and get crackin'. You can post your entries in this thread, and I will be cruising it for the next week keeping the list of entries in this post up to date.

Refuse Rocket

Stuff from the recycle bin:
Empty hairspray can
Bottled water bottle

Stuff from shop floor:
Two pieces of brass rod
A bit of wire

Stuff from work bench:
A dab of epoxy putty
a bit of solder

Nothing too fancy or too clever, but I wanted to enter and am leaving on a trip that will keep me busy for the remainder of the contest. If I wind up with more time I may yet do something else.

Amount spent $0.00

By the way, the video and stills were all done with my cell phone, a Galaxy Note 2. The stills used an android app named "Fast Burst Camera".

Ha ha, I can't wait to finish working on mine... there's wire nuts and wire crawling with mains AC involved at the moment., but I have to sleep. Good luck! :)

I have everything but a chamber figured out; finding "suitable" materials is hard when living on campus and tools are nonexistent. Good thing I brought my duct tape! :D

I have been itching to see what others would build for this contest. I'd love to see some progress photos if any one has any.

Still a work in progress but I'll give you guys a tease.
I gotta get my ignition working, that's my only real problem so far.

Well, today was the last day of the contest, but given that we only have one entry, I'd be glad to extend it.

How does next Monday sound? That way you can spend time with your family over thanksgiving instead of taping random crap together to build cannons. :P

I'm suggesting 30 days......It's up to you mark.f, but you're right more time is needed.

If we go to 30 days I assume I can do something more elaborate if I choose to. Right?

Of course, but 30 days is a little lengthy. The idea is to "think fast"!

I think next Friday sounds good if you guys feel you need longer than next monday.

I might have to get a new combustion chamber since mine will probably rot over the few days I'll be gone...
