I've noticed lately that people have used specifically the "How-To" section to post advertisements for things like dating, drugs, and porn. I find tis a disgrace to the forums. I don't know how, but their should be a small qeustion page to see if they are sincere about spudgunning when they register.

Same, when people sign up it should automaticaly bring them to the rules page and disable all links or watever for a certain time.

If it does happen, rest assured that the mods will be on it in no time.
If there's a problem, PM me, or IM me with a link to the topic whether i'm away or not and I'll be sure to get it fixed. Same goes for other mods.

i thought that the part of the regestration process where you type in the code thats weird looking was to keep spam bots from being able to regester.

lol yeah guys, it's spam.
However they are not bots. They are piss poor people paid in various foregin countries a quarter an hour to register for forums like mine and post stuff like that. A few of them have even posted "somewhat spud-related" posts, then turn around a post a list in off-topic about why it's good to be a man, and the periods are links to spam sites.
I don't turn on the random registration code becuase it tends to prevent AOL members from registering because AOL proxies like to cache that image even when their not supposed to. I do however have very spudfiles-specific hidden fields in the register page, so a bot can't fill it out and register automatically... they will get an error.
There isn't much I can do about it aside from delete them as soon as their found, and ban them in a few different ways. It should supress soon enough.

haha yeah well the foregin country thing checks out considering the spelling and grammar of posts like that.
