first one isnt really a question, more of something asking for suggestions. well anyways, i was planning on buildinig a combustive gun that fires similar to a paintball gun. i dont want to use pneumatic, i wanna make combustive. anyways i dont want to have to fill it up each time i do one shot, and i dont want to use propane. im thinking of attaching something to the chamber( small, mind you) that can hold a can of axe and id spray it directly into the chamber. but then it doesnt get a good airflow, so i need a chamber fan. but it has to be a small chamber fan, so i want to find a way to use one of those fans that have two batteries in them and blow air to people on hot days that they just carry around. i was thinking maybe putting like, i onno, some small pvc into the barrel with a fan attatched to the opening. maybe that would mix the air? i will not be using this for paintballing, btw. it would not be powerful enough compared to paintball guns. any suggestions?

ok and my second question is...

my friend wants to make a spudgun. he will use pvc. he wants to use gun powder in it. i told him thats stupid. whos right and whos wrong, dr. phil?

I dont think using black powder would work very well at all. I remember mythbusters tried making a black powder engine once i dont think it worked. tell him to just use aerosol or propane

Let your friend do his thing with the gun powder, cause i really don't wan't him contributing to the gene pool later in life.
Seriosly though, pvc+gunpowder=death or emengency room trying to explain to the cop why you have a dozen pieces of pvc inbedded in you.

And i'm not quite sure what your talking about with the paintball gun, but you can get little fans from all electonics that are small with crazy air flow (i've got one on my mini).

gun powder will blow up. it builds up thousands of psi. A small rifle cartridge builts up over 3000, a spud gun would be even more. it would build more pressure than the most advanced and efficiant hybrid around, dont do it.

as for the chamber fan, dont do it either. you obviously are not familiar with electric motors. those cheap fans are brushed motors. they create sparks that can set off the cannon before you even click the ignitor.

the fan MUST be brushless, period.

(note the period)

Tell him using black powder would be making a bomb, because the ammounts of black powder you would need to get enough energy to launch a potato would(i believe) just blow the damn thing up.

well i mean i need a reaaallly tiny one.about 1 inch. no actually less maybe.er maybe that would be good. but the fan one inch in diameter. oh and killjoy my friend says " WELL TELL HIM TO SHUT THE HELL UP, you tell your little spud buddy he needs to learn how to do some better stuff than shooting potatoes of pvc"

oh and to hi

im sorry i didnt really right it clear. this fan would be far away from the actual thing and mostly outside. just the air from it would blow inside

for the fan, any brushless computer fan will work just fine. you can get them 40 mm, which is about an inch, at least i think it is. maybe slightly larger, but thats as small as they come that i know of.

tell your friend not to post his cannon, the last thing we need is spud cannons being banned because some idiot teen put black powder in it.

Actually an inch is 2.54 centimeters, so 25.4 millimeters. 40 mm is about an inch and 3/5.

Well I'm American too... I'm in college though, maybe that makes a difference.
