Pretty frickin' big combustion
Just some big ass gun that cost me less than $20. The barrel (10 feet, 2" PVC) was 50 cents, the chamber (4 feet, 4" ABS) was 50 cents, and the BBQ igniter (4 sparks) was a dollar. All the other random fittings added up the rest. According to my calculations, I should be using 8-9 seconds of hairspray for the maximum bang, but only 5 seconds ignites. I think the problem is that the hairspray doesn't get into the front of the chamber enough. A chamber fan would help, but then I'd need a place to spray in the hairspray. Oh well, it's still strong enough to shoot through 2+ inches of wood with an apple.

hole-ee-cow!!!!
i found that with my first spray combustion it worked to spray about half the fuel in, close it, up end it (so the barrel is on the ground) and wait a few seconds then open it and spray the other half in. that lets it mix up really well.

Sweet gun. I can only imagine the muzzle flash on that thing.
Where the hell did you get all that cheap stuff?

I guess I'll try it tomorrow. This is more of a ridiculous, maximum-5-shots-per-day kind of gun, because of the noise and destruction. The barrel should be around 20 feet for a good ratio, but I have nowhere near that amount of room (or sawhorses ).
Edit: I don't think so, SpudBlaster. I'm using crappy ass hairspray (along with the wrong amount), and you were using perfectly metered MAPP.
Edit #2, dammit. iPaintball, I get it at this place where you go and get rid of all the junk around your house. So far, I've spent about $10 there, and received over $100 worth of what stuff would cost.

Kind of. I'll try to bring a camera next time I go. They have bathtubs, doors, more doors, more bathtubs, a bunch of toilets, a crapload of pipe, steel, ABS, PVC (some 16" PVC!), a bunch of the SDR sizes too, including 2," 2.5," 3," 4," just all kinds of stuff. You can also get CD's and recods for about a quarter each. I managed to get a sprinkler valve for 50 cents, and there's a couple of 50 gallon trash cans overflowing with random PVC and ABS fittings.
It's like a local junkyard, except organized, not just piles of junk.

Wow. Thats one helluva cannon you have there. Is the BBQ ignitor a battery powered one or is it a piezo. I would assume it a battery powered one because the piezo would have a hard time creating 4 sparks. Isn't the barrel bent at the tip in the 2nd to last picture? If so why didn't you cut the bent part off?
Ecclesiastes 1:9 - What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Nope, it's a piezoelectric one. No one seems to understand that all you need for lots of sparks is, pause for suspense, small spark gaps! The barrel's bent a little, big deal. If I had another sawhorse or two I might be able to straighten it out.
