Well about back in 2003, we got an edition onto our house. We added a game room/guest room. My dad did the whole thing himself, I help off and on ( I was only 10 ). The only thing my dad didn't do is lay the new concrete foundation. A neighbor down the street owned a cement laying business, they were a huge business, they layed cement for a bunch of warehouses, and new malls. So he did it for us for only $2000 because they had leftover mixed cement they had to use fast. SO they layed within the hour we asked them to lay cement for use. They brought over the oxygen and acetylene tanks, and all that good stuff. They did a great job. But 2 months after they layed for us they moved, and they forgot there acetylene and oxygen tanks :D . We weren't good friends so we didn't know were they moved. And till this day they haven't came by or called to pick it up. So I decided to sell them, or maybe use them for a cannon :D What do you guys think?

Here are a few pics of the tanks.

So wat you guys think I should do with them?

The big green tank is OXYGEN, and the black one is acetylene

IIRC, most tanks are rented, not sold. Look closely at the tanks and see if there is a supplier name. If not, just call a few local compressed gas suppliers, welding suppliers etc.

See if they'll give you the depost back if you return the tanks.

Anybody know what the typical deposit is for these size tanks?

well all the paper labeling has been weathered off of it, and you cannont read the ingraved letters anymore. And ya the acetylene is most full, and the oxygen is half way.

Be gentle with them. You don't know how old they are and weather can take a toll on the metal. Wouldn't want ya to blow yourself up.

(If you do, can I have your cannon?)

Unless you know the condition of the tanks it may be unwise to keep them around. If acelytuyne is left stored on its side it will eat away at the valve on top and the sponge material inside may begin to deteriorate. My opinion would be to go somewhere far away and drain them slowly.

K thanks I think that is what I will do with the acetalyne, and use the bottle for a cannon... maybe. I will bring it out the the desert next time I go MXing and leak it all out, and then bring it home.

drain the tanks out in the middle of nowhere, and cut the top off the oxygen tank and make a calcium carbide bowling ball cannon.

I am a welder and I have dealt with acetylene and it is scary stuff.
careful when draining the acetylene too, if it spits out acetone, then it will become unstable and possibly explode.
I would call a local weld shop and ask them how to properly empty the tanks.

CannonCreator:

Don't try to modify the tanks. Don't even try to empty the tanks. You really do not have the expertise, experience or equipment to do so safely.

Spudders really don't need more bad press about a "spud gunner" that killed themselves doing something so stupid as modifying compressed gas, particularly acetylene, tanks.

Call your local compressed gas or welding supplier and try to return the tanks. A quick Google search suggests the deposit on the tanks could be as much as $50 to $100 per tank.
