I've never used a coke bottle as a chamber (for safety reasons :D ). I was wondering if there was a way to re-enforce the coke bottle, such as wrapping duct tape around it, to make it stronger, or at least make it safer to use.

I think it has been shown before that duct tape doesn't reinforce. Maybe a liberal coating of Kevlar would do the trick. (albeit expensive) Anyone got an old bullet resistant vest?

Thats what I was thinking. Because when I do "The Works" Bombs and stuff. Too make a Louder noise I wrap it in tape and it Strengthens the bottle which allows more pressure to build up, resulting in an un-normaly loud noise.

Or maybe even find a way to re-inforce it another way, such as wrapping aluminum screening around the bottle.

*This, or course, is for the cannon and not the Works bomb*

You have a choice between Pressure rated ABS, copper, steel, iron, aluminium and brass, none of which are cheaper or easier than PVC.

Plastic bottles are not a decent chamber. They're an easy chamber that is far too weak. I have used them as chambers, but given what I now know, I would not personally repeat or recommend it.

They do make a good bang if you shoot them under pressure, but the twisted mess that results would put you off using them. I'll get a picture of it as soon as I can.

I have used a 2lt coke bottle before up to 140psi but I only took it that high twice. I used it regularly at 80-100psi with no problems, however my bottle did not have the tyre valve in the end as that weakens the system. My tyre valve was in a t fitting.

But seriously make your self a little chamber out of pvc and end caps and save yourself the trouble of needing hearing aids....

Duct tape will do nothing but make it louder by holding the pressure in longer i have done a test with water bottles wrapped with all sorts of crap and duct tape just makes it louder and makes the fast sharp shrapnel into fast sharp shrapnel with tape on it

Or people could combine prevention and protection - in addition to building safe cannons and using them safely (prevention of an accident), they should naturally use goggles and ear defenders (protection from an accident), in case something should go wrong.
