Paintball Grenade Launcher
Hey guys, its been a while since i been here but i played paintball outdoors today for the first time in years and now i wanna get back into it. I decided i want to build a paintball grenade launcher for homemade banana grenades.
All suggestions appreciated, 100 dollars limit most likely on pricing (parts i have some already so thats why so low)
anyway, my plans so far are to make a relatively short length (like regular paintball gun length) (for closer quarters so i dont stick out so much to fire it)
U shaped gun. i want it to pretty much look like this one http://www.pukindogspaintball.com/cannons/cannon2b.jpg
But less complex. For the reloading im going to use a cam lock so its quick and easy to put a new grenade in instead of a bolt action type thing.
The barrel will be 2". most likely entire gun 2"
The valve will be a modded sprink valve.
My problems so far are
-How do i regulate CO2 to make it field legal
-What kind of epoxy do i use to plug solonoid of sprinkler valve
-Where can i get 1/4" latex tubing for grenades
-How much pressure would it most likely take ot propel the grenades (probably trial and error)
ALL help is appreciated

buy a regulator for the co2, use steel pipe.
use marine epoxy
about 70-90 psi for indirect fire, and latex tubing, i dont know.

jb quick or regular jb weld worked for me
-Where can i get 1/4" latex tubing for grenades google or ebay
-How much pressure would it most likely take ot propel the grenades (probably trial and error) depends how far u want them to go and how much they weigh.
for plugging the solenoid epoxy putty like this helps alot.

i dont know how to make bolt action really and have a spare camlock i wasted money on.
As for steel pipe, do you mean for the entire gun?

no for the chamber, if you use pvc, it wil eventually get too brittle, and explode, pvc getts brittle in the cold.

Regulator, I would try palmerpursuit. Try searching that on spudfiles, you should come up with quite a few links. For the field legal question, I suggest punching some figures into GGDT to figure out what pressure you have to regulate the CO2 at to keep it at a certain velocity.Mihlrad wrote:

Unfortuantly palmerpursuit regs cost about $80US I think.
Epoxy, you could use JB-Weld, or more of a putty epoxy, but I don't know a specific brand.
Latex tubing, try eBay, maybe a chemist. I'm not really sure on that one.
No idea, again, try putting some figures into GGDT, just mess around with GGDT for a bit and optimize everything so you know what you are doing.
If you have any probs with GGDT, D_hall does have a FAQ on his site, still have a problem search spudfiles, if you still have a problem, just ask it here.
Good to see you back, I haven't heard of you since sometime last year when I first joined.
you think it would be better as a single shot? once you start mixing regulators with pvc and steel it get so complicated.... pricey too. Single shot i could jus bike pump it and it could be alot smaller
Rapid fire just seemed cool rapid firing of even homemade grenades gets pricey too tho. i dont know if i can use single shot tho, cause how could i regulate it to meet field policies. A guy earlier at the field told me its legal if its regulated.

If you use a bike pump the guys at the field could think you might take it to a certain PSI where it reaches a FPS more then the field limit, with a regulator they should be fine knowing what pressures you are using it at.
You should really only need around 70psi, I can pump that in a few seconds with a chamber 1.5"x12" long.

it just needs enough umph to push the 2" grenade like 100 feet maybe? iuno how good a number that is. But where would i prove regulation with a bike pump, maybe a gauge on the gun but iuno if thats good enough

to use it on a field you will have to be able to chrono it at 230fps or lower, and you must show that it will shoot consistently at that velocity. what you will need to be field legal is a reg , this will control the psi and maintain a consistent velocity, most fields also like to see a safety popoff valve used especialy when using pvc , a popoff valve will prevent the pressure chamber from biulding up to much pressure and exploding. everything you will need you can find at home depo , reg, pipe, fittings, latex tubing , all can be found at home depo . this pic is only one of many ways to atach everything , maybe it will help you out.
would i be ok if i bought one of these http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/cart/inde ... cts_id=223

if so which am i better with, i figured the female cause it gives me more of a grip to unscrew the tank with.
O crap, the pressure of the co2 before reduced is like 1800 psi..
That means i am pretty much only able to use something like this

Correct me if im wrong with anything but i dont think i can use unregulated co2 into an inline regulator like the one in the above picture.
