well i spuspect it wasn't a spud gun or they would have called it a spudgun i would have thought so my guess is that it was an actuall home made gun that used solid propellant so its nothing to do with us spudders :)

but i supose spudguns are a kind of homemade firearm...

on another note i put in the scew for my spark gaps and tested it out and i'm getting two not very bright sparks although they are quite long (3-4mm) any ideas for making them better, i'm trying to find some better thicker wires which should help and i have given up on the twist-lock because its too weak, so i have put a schrader in so i can use a syringe to inject butane when i get a syringe but will i be alright sprayig my fuel in down the barrel then putting the ammo in?

I dono bout your wires? You may need to get a lower gadge wire that carrys current more effectivley?

What voltage are you using?

Shortning the gap between your screws is another option so the spark dosent have to jump so far. but i dont think it has to be that bright anyways as long as there is a spark to start ignition of your propelant.

Not down the barrel mate it disapates to quickly. you need to get it straight into the chamber. Screw on end caps is what i use. A bloke i know also uses re-fill valves outa butane lighters to get his streight into the chamber but that might be a bit complex as your cannon is ment to be ghetto?

Who said about byin em?
I'm sure your a resorsvel type a bloke like i'am.
Heres a handy tip and if anyone is alarmed its tecnicly not stealing....
Ok goto or find a residential estate being built or even a general building site and have a rummage through the skip bins...umm dono what they call em else where but that what we call em over here in Australia. umm the big bin the throw all the building scraps in?
Try and time it about or just after the plummers have been through and you be surprised what they throw out.
Im always geting end caps and redusers that way. Cheap and its saving the planet!! recycling!!
That would fit into your ghetto planed look for the gun anyways!

i wish i had thought of that a few weeks ago, a house was being build down my street, although the whole thing was surrounded by wire fence :( so i probably wouldn't have got anything anyway... but i had another idea, what about using the top of a bottle and sticking that in a reducer and glueing it in, that would probably work, the only problem is making a reducer :x because i'm making them from wood and because of drill bit sizes they are thin and keep cracking when i drill out the middle :x which is annoying me alot :x and one more thing...

will pvc cement dry if i use it to fill something (pour it in) ? because i know some glues (superglue) need air to dry so they only dry on the surface. the reason i want to know is because i could do away with the wooden reducers and use plastic ones.

Yeah id do away with the wood and get some pvc redusers they are pritty cheap and hold the presure required!
I dont thinnk pvc sement is saposed to be used that way. where talking presuse here mate and i dont think it could handle it coz when it drys in mass it becomes elastic.
Bottle theory sounds good on paper but there only good for minis and too much heat will distort or split it.
Best stick with pvc componets!

Some advice....... Wire fences only keep the innocent out! he he he
If you get caught you can always say your just raiding the bin. You have no intrest in anything else that may be inside anyways!

if only it was that simple, i in the uk we only really have B&Q and homebase then there is build center and a branch of build center called pipe center but i have yet to find one close enough to be worth going to and the delivery off the site i buy from is only £5 which i think is pretty reasonable.
