I was working on another design while I thought of the valveless airgun design from jack:
As I was working on the slider valve recently:
I thought why not combine the two and make a gun where the balls pass through the slider valve open it and shoot out. The bb's could be stored in the tube that is pushed by a spring at the back. By using a tippmann like trigger/sear design u would get high semi rate of fire!! No moving parts; only the piston pushing the bb's out! I think this is promising. I hope the bb's can take the denting'' from the valve stem. Here is the animation I made according to this idea:
Most simple automatic bbgun design!Nor a vortex nor a cloud!

Interesting idea, but my worry would be that the very brief burst of air would not be sufficient to give a decent shot.

Good point, I am ganna try to make this design today using my old configuration from the slide valve. So ill keep ya updated. Ofcourse the speed that the ball goes through the valve will decide how much are is given. Ill c how works.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Interesting idea, but my worry would be that the very brief burst of air would not be sufficient to give a decent shot.

How about this, it would work BBMG style but with a spring loaded detent that would delay each shot and allow pressure to build up in the chamber. you could alter the rate of fire by altering the spring tension.

I don't think that design will work very well. When the pressure gets high enough to retract the release pin you'll get a rapid stream of many BBs. The pressure in the chamber is going to drop very slowly compared to the movement of the individual BBs past the release pin. In other words, the change in the chamber pressure caused by say ten BBs moving past the release pin is going to be very small.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:How about this, it would work BBMG style but with a spring loaded detent that would delay each shot and allow pressure to build up in the chamber. you could alter the rate of fire by altering the spring tension.

Poor airflow might also be a significant problem.

I would have thought that a BB would push its way through the spring loaded pin and it would reset instantly, trapping the next BB and allowing the cycle to continue. With regards to airflow, the diagram is misleading in the sense that it wouldn't be a good idea to have more than one BB in a BB sized tube leading up to the pin.jimmy101 wrote:When the pressure gets high enough to retract the release pin you'll get a rapid stream of many BBs. What I had in mind was along the lines of this.

Yeah could be an idea. Its just that the bb's dont really seal of the pipe and I dont have a seal or oring about the size of a bb. So I cant really make such a design at the moment.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:How about this, it would work BBMG style but with a spring loaded detent that would delay each shot and allow pressure to build up in the chamber. you could alter the rate of fire by altering the spring tension.

Btw I make the valve stem longer and now the first ball shoots at about 100ft/s, a burst of two the second one goes about 250ft/s, with a burst of three the third ball will prob go even faster then the 2nd one. The problem is that I dont have a chrono. So I use a metal cuboard which I shoot agains and c if they break yes or no (using comparison of previous made bb guns which I did measure the speeds of). So in other words this project does have potential, but its just not very.. handy as the first bb will always be lost as it shoots at a too low speed. I thought about making small indents in the push-rod at the back; so it behaves like a bunch of bbs are passing. Like this you can shoot single bbs. But it wont really have a automatic effect. When I add about 7 bb's I dont really have a automatic effect more like a shotgun effect as the rate of fire is so high. So yeah I am not sure what to with this project. It would maybe be cool to have this as an extra sidearm'' as back

for the last one " ball mag will its work i think you should put a sprind stoper
just befor the vale so when the ball hits the vale all the other balls dont fly off
OHHH CAN USE IT TO OUR ADVANTAGE YOU CAN MAKE IT BURST SO IT
loads 3 at a time then shoots them and reloads 3 and so on and so on correct me if im wrong cos im new to this
;and im making a rifle like ants but im gona put a co2 canista on it (i live in swizzaland so im goning to use a altomatic stop and go recharge canista ( its like a co2 canista) and i m not sure if its too strong or too week i think its alot more stronger then the bb gun co2 canister cos it cost like $60-$120
