Nice one, I like it. Did you just take a 2" hole saw to that tee so that the barrel goes through it, or did you spend time with a file or similar doing it?

Also, you know you can get rid of the annoying sound distortion when videos are slowed down in Vegas. Right-click the segments sound track, hit properties, go to Pitch Change towards the bottom, and hit the "Lock to Stretch" radio box. Makes slomo sound a lot better.

Thanks Mark. Yeah I just used a hole saw, very effective and surprisingly clean.

Ah right, was wondering about that. Vegas kept FingUBAR every now and then so I just got pissed off and made a quick video and didn't bother too much about effects.

Edit: I'm taking this into school tomorrow, I did a night of pressure testing. At 120psi it dropped to 90psi over about 25minutes, and at 90psi it dropped to 80psi over 20 minutes.

My main concern is rapid decompression or stress on the joints of long periods of compression, so these pressure tests have made me feel much safer even though i'm only demonstrating this at below 30psi.

The testing went quite well at school today.

I had a short period for hard-tech but we still got a few shots in. All the other hard-tech teachers came and watched, including my class and some from others. Spudguns are generally unheard of here, even more so pneumatics, and even more so huge-ass 2" piston valved pneumatics

I was walking down the tech block with it and everyone from all the classes turned and stared at me, including the teachers.

I had to demonstrate that the nerf would tow the fishing cable in-flight, so I only went up to 30psi. Which was more then enough. Sent it about 60m and everyone was so pleased and surprised, then I told them I was only at 1/4 power :D

So my teacher wants to take advantage of that fact and go up to 90psi without the fishing cable tomorrow, he wants to 'test' how well the nerf holds up at such high speeds... :P

Ha, as much as I would love too, I have to take responsibility for the cannon and the less chance of someone getting hurt the better. With my new breech loading system I don't have to load to the last minute before firing, which makes me feel much more comfortable if there happened to be a mis-fire.

That and i'm not sure what the rugby team would think of plywood splinters littering their nice rugby field. :P

Great design/ video. I am going to read over the how-to and all the info later.
I also like the breech loading design.

BTW, That looked like an air-guitar you shot in the awesome video?
Just wondered. 8) Thanks

Thanks :)

More testing today, it went really well.

First did a shot with the nerf attached to the line, at 30psi it went 55m going for height.

Second shot was done with the barrel 60cm parallel off the ground, nerf went 65m, third shot was the same but 40cm off the ground, went about 60m.

Halfway through the period there was a fire drill and everyone poured out onto the shooting range, er I mean Rugby field. All the staff came out as well, like the deputies, deans and principal. They didn't seem to mind but boy did I attract a crowd. I didn't do any shots during this time for obvious reasons.

After that me and few friends wanted to see how far the nerf would go without the cable, at 80psi we managed to get two shots off that both went little over 160m. Not bad for such a short barrel and only 80psi.

All in all, great day. I have gathered a little bit of a reputation now as not many people knew about the cannons I make and seeing them in person made it better. Ended up with about 15 offers to make one for people. All denied. :)

Thanks unisonmind. I love your cannons for the same reason, always clean and tidy while still maintaining absolute power.

Yeah, I was listening to an interview with him and if I remember correctly,
He was like 16 and about to do one of their first big shows.
He couldn't find or figure out what to wear.
So his older sister told him to wear his school uniform and show his school pride sort of. Funny story. 8)
