I'd like to point out DWV has a good shock resistance meaning it can sustain pressure spikes of around a standard combustion. I have made several from DWV and Im yet to have a failure entirely due to the DWV.SpudFarm wrote:more specs and you used DWV

That's one big A combustion you've got there. Absolute performance would have to be pretty decent by default.
"Ignitor goodies" does not adequately describe your setup there. Did you install a fan? Stun gun or BBQ ignitor, spark gap setup...?

Thanks for your responses. Yes there are some DWV pieces on it in an attempt to have a more fluid curve for expanding gasses. The DWV parts seem as robust as the ones used for pressure, but some have less connection area for gluing.
The igniter is from a grill at the junkyard. It takes a AA battery and has 2 leads. Both leads will spark to ground, but directed towards each other jump over 1/2". There is a small momentary switch zip tied to the handle.
The metering system is made of 3/4" pipe and valves and one cut up bernzomatic torch. Originally I thought I would need a regulator, which is on the gun, but the Bernz regulates to any PSI up to 60. So I am using the reg thats on it for the gauge only. 3X the meter rod at 50PSI seems to be the strongest, at least feel and sight wise. Does anyone have recommendations for a chrony that works (space to fire through) speeding spuds?
The coupling at the base of the barrel is a result of changing the barrel length, originally it was 4' and after being introduced to the spud files, I realized I needed more internal barrel area because my chamber is so big. Its probably too big for the 6' barrel too. I know this has been a hot topic of discussion, but what is optimal chamber to barrel ratio? 1.5C to 1B?
I have not introduced a fan yet. i've been using compressed air for venting and shaking the gun for mixing. I am working on modifying a pull starter to make a manual chamber fan.
I'll post a photo of a coaxial I built later. It was more proof of concept than anything. I'm building a large coaxial this weekend as long as the parts arrive on Thursday. It will get the metering goods and ignition like the above and will feature 12' x 2" barrel and 31" x 6" chamber. What's the max distance for combustion spud guns that have been posted here?
