so i decided to make a pretty decent sized combustion out of stainless steel but my chamber is a bit "wobbly" it does not have much thicker walls than a beer can
so that is my chamber, i think it is rated to about 100ish psi..
i reinforced it pretty good with 1mm alu plate rolled around it and a huge amount of tight fitting stainless hoseclamps on the outside.
it will get a 3" or 4" barrel for turnips..
if it turns out good i will add a propane meter to it..
if you guys need more info just ask.
Edit: video of a "friend" of mine that used a tank like that to his cannon, it burned in a house

stainless combustion
A good old fashion turnip shooter huhhh. Looks like a ton of fun. It's going to be a big, heavy awkward mother though.
I've seen that video before. Yeah, it "burned" in a house alright...

Oh really! That would be a real bummer to have your gun burn in the house you shot up. Did they just forget it or where they hiding it there?SpudFarm wrote:it did burn in a house! they left the cannon in the house in the vid and the man that owned the house burned it down :S

If you stay with a straight 1x combustion you'll be fine. You might even try your burst disk your working on with this. Try to aim for 60-80 psi on breakage. You'll be amazed at the power available with just 1x.

hmm, i just found out that the 300psi rated propane tank i have standing is 7liter bigger then the keg:P i will go with the propane tank and 3" exhaust pipe as barrel.
and it may get tougether fast if my hybrid works with the burst disk setup, since i have the $200 that i was suposed to get a union for
can't wait to get a little plinker i can run out with in one piece and not come out with a gun in three parts and have to get it all tougether and run a compressor hose etc

That is to me is the biggest problem with a big bore pneumatic...a compressor is always required, so it's a big deal to shoot....and practically impossible out in the woods.SpudFarm wrote: and run a compressor hose etc

i have got a thing (no name i can think out in english) that rolls out 80' of hose and i can connect another 20' to that again..
if i decide to get dangarous i go out in the woods with my 120psi compressor and the generator.

My problem is my woods are 5+ miles away, no power outlets out there and my compressor draws too much power for my 1kva invertor in my truck. Soooo for me, small bore pneumatics that can be hand pumped or something combustion.SpudFarm wrote:i have got a thing (no name i can think out in english) that rolls out 80' of hose and i can connect another 20' to that again..

small bore guns are fun aswell, it is so good to just run in and charge some air from a hose and run out and drop a marble in the barrel and shoot.
no burst disks and propane meters..
