ya, cardboard is pretty incredible... They make model rocket cassings out of it. Granted they use much thicker rolls, but also they are dealing with pressure, and assuming you don't drop a steel weight down your barrel or add a burst disk, the pressure isn't going to go much over 3psi anyways.
