Silencio
[A silenced golf ball combustion]
Super-duper-major credit to Gort's Streamlined Simple Combustion.
Decided it was time to build a cannon, so here it is:
Silencio ~ GB Combustion
Looks great, really neat job. The obvious question is "How well does the silencer work"?
Are you fueling or airing with the quick connect...or both maybe?

Is the quick connect for homedepotpro's metering, or something else?
Cool cannon.
Cool cannon.

To tell you the truth haven't shot it yet.
However I've built a silencer of the same design before and it definitely worked. My best description would be that it completely removes that concussive blast and in place a "fa-lump" noise. I build my combustions with reasonable .8-1:1 ratios so that keeps the noise down to begin with.
Yeah sorry for the absence of information, my keyboard is broke so I have to type with this cruddy on screen one...
Just got a fuel pod setup for the quick disconnect, and vent with the threaded plug.
Inonickname, yeah same idear however I believe BigBang was the first to the fuel pod system.

Very nice, clean and simple. Although personally I would have gone with a different shade of blue on the chamber.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Yeah this is true, at least he was the first to show a working implementation of the idea back in the Spudtech forum days. I can honestly say that I thought of the concept independently and then copied Homedepotpro's implementation mainly because of its effectiveness and low cost. My attribution to Homedepotpro in my Triple Thunder write-up is undoubtedly why others, mostly new guys, are as well giving him credit for the idea. Perhaps I should qualify the attribution a little more there.pimpmann22 wrote:Inonickname, yeah same idear however I believe BigBang was the first to the fuel pod system.
I've seen others use copper pipe and an airchuck to do the same thing.
However, BigBang's pods are very cool! His write-up back at Spudtech is a worthy read as it goes into good detail on the how to "burp" them and some theory behind their design. It actually wouldn't be a bad topic to bring over to Spudfiles, maybe sticky it...
BTW, I'm not feelin' the baby blue color either, although it definitely gives it a unique look!
Just like instantly?Decided it was time to build a cannon,
You just suddenly jumped up and ran off to the hardware store...
Clean cannon! I'd love to hear a comparison between silencer and no silencer. What is there on the inside of your silencer? Care to sketch up a quick diagram?

Why not? That's what happens when you all of a sudden have money to spend.psycix wrote:Just like instantly?Decided it was time to build a cannon,

Excuse my tardiness on responding to this fine specimen, but I do say that in the area of aesthetics my reaction was quite pleasant. The simple lines and exquisite form rather complement the wonderful color you have decided to bless the chamber with: a certain satin peekaboo blue, if I am not mistaken?
tl;dr: Nice fecking cannon.
