Sureshot BL-625 Prototype

Just completed and test fired. Still awaiting Chrony results but thought to share the initial prototype photos. Performance info /damage video to come shortly.

Specs:
1.25 chamber to barrel ratio
575 cubic inch chamber (6" diameter)
8' barrel (2.5" diameter)

MAPP gas
Costco potatoes (1 pounders!) and tennis balls woohoo very few are reuasable they are splitting on impact.

Riot to shoot, definately way more fun crew serve.

EDIT: muzzle brake prototype. Sched 40 2.5" sleeved Schedule 80 3" glued turned and slotted...

That is a sexy gun, and yes, I do say that to just about every single one I comment on, but this one deserves it especially. Very good call on the shoulder mount, the last one did look a little unfitted to any form of hold.

Jagerbond, this thing is just about at the limit of practicality for human hand holding. Still, it's a really nice setup with the shoulder mount.

That totally depends on how balanced the weight is. From the looks of things, it seems very balanced. I'll bet it is a blast to shoot.

That thing is friggin awesome! I love the hi tech look of the whole set up. Videos are desired in a way that can't be overstated. Tennis ball caliber for a beast that size...safe to say it belongs in the "ultimate" category

I agree, it weighs about 45lbs. and could use a tad more weight on the front for a perfect balance. The rear cap and female adapter accounts for 7lbs! I guess its necessary, the math says with a peak of 60psi that the cap is seeing nearly 1700lbs force pushing on it.

With that said, I don't seem to notice any weight while bearing down on the target ready to pull the trigger.

Unless you're going for purely close-in damage shots (which could be impressive), you aren't going to realize significantly more distance than you would with a more "standard" sized chamber/barrel combination....just because of the drag and low-mass-for-its-size tennis ball ammo.

While it's nominally a tennis ball cannon, I have no doubt that jager's customers will be shooting anything that fits in the barrel out of it

For me, the real advantage is the giant Costco potatoes. They are $12 for 20lbs (about 25 spuds) and they are so big that the 520 was trimming a lot off. This 625 wastes very little when loading and still maintains a good seal. With the 1 pounders I found myself nearly sitting down on the first shot.

Tennis balls can be reusable depending on what it hits. Today we we're punching holes through 1/2 ply at 15 yards with them, and exit damage was impressive. Hitting hard stuff left yellow circles and we could only re-use the balls that didn't break only a few times before failing. Straight up shots felt like eternity before returning to earth, we'll time some tomorrow. We quickly put together a syringe set-up for the garden hose -- filled the tennis balls with water and found performance was pretty awesome. For this gun water filled tennis balls is a nice blend of speed and energy.

With that said, this is for a customer but I'll probably keep the prototype.
