Following these thoughts, herewith a 3mm high pressure BBMG prototype:

Image

Did some testing at 500 psi, pretty impressive stuff:

Same as above, but with ball detent restriction removed.

Here's what's left of the targets, love the clean individual holes as opposed to the "rips" which ordinary BBMGs usually provide :)

On the contrary, the videos were made from one fill, but I was only loading 20-30 BBs at a time.

so it seems that air consumption improved...

still I would like to see it using 6mm BBs (or .177 / 4.5mm ones) but even now the power is impressive

that's not the final version, is it? there are no final versions...

it could be turned into a pretty good gun with a better, more ergonomic and sturdy design as well as loading port... oh and larger ammo capacity so that you could hook it up to the larger tank to wipe out those bastard smileys

That's the idea, I'm working on a concept for a larger calibre version, to be posted soon.

Just a small calibre prototype I always wanted to build, unfortunately over 500 psi the blowgun leaks. With 3mm BBs what I want to move on to is a burst fire version, with a pengun style piston valve feeding into a small 20-30 round cylindrical magazine that I can charge to 850 or so psi.

Question...

I'm assuming the barrel should come out the "side of the pipe?

LIke this--

O_____

and not like

O------- that?

Can the air input be like the second-does the position of that really matter?

I'd think the barrel matters more..

Amazing, the world's fastest firing kitchen worktop off-cut!
:tongue3:

Obvious but important question: Do you feel the detent helps?
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Answer...

It helps if the air input is at a tangent to generate the circular motion that promotes reliable feeding.

Deceptive, isn't it :P
Do you feel the detent helps?
Certainly, it seems to reduce ROF and increase power as intended, though with too many BBs in the chamber it seems to affect feeding.

It's just a HPA tank. N is for ninja.

Awesome performance, makes your trek for a proper mechanism seem...ehhh.

It must be ;)

Aye :) high pressure makes all the difference. I would have loved to try it out at 850 psi but the blowgun seems only to be good till 500.

You could get a 1/8" npt paintball BV (rather compact), spin it with a drill and lube till it's smooth and rig up a simple lever. I realize why you could want a push button trigger, but surely you could use a spring to automatically close a BV? Hard trigger pull must get annoying anyway.

OK thanks...that's what I thought..

Another question..did you keep your barrel flush with the inside of the pipe?

I'm almost certain but I can't really tell from your picture..If it wasn't it probably wouldn't even fire...

That must've been tricky to secure inside there? to keep it flush... Oh well i guess with epoxy all things are possible
