Nah - later I will be designing a different cannon lol. I'm really in love with the avalauncher right now if that gives you any ideas... lol. Only I'm more interested in a semi-auto avalauncher.thedeathofall wrote:Nice!! I'm glad you finally finished it. Maybe later, when you have free time, you can design a different trailer/carriage.
Great job though!

I mean putting a bit of metal over the tips of the wooden prop where it touches the ground so its not wood-mud/concrete/stuff contact.
Not essential but a thought.

I submitted vote..."simply beast"
Hadn't replied because nothing more to say than "looks awesome".
That pic in driveway I was thinking, I'm no trespasser but if I saw that sitting there..."could I resist trying to try it out just one time???" ...Honestly, IDK.
Made me think you could rent it by # of shots at a paintball range or something(?)... 8)
BTW, those vote choices seem a little bad inuendo'ish.

Haha i like your style; big bore and badass!Nah - later I will be designing a different cannon lol. I'm really in love with the avalauncher right now if that gives you any ideas... lol. Only I'm more interested in a semi-auto avalauncher.
Anyway, hydraulic lifts would be cool... but probably way out of budget and really slow.
DUDE!!! that would be really awsome!! you just need to design a multi round paint grenade cartridge for this baby.Made me think you could rent it by # of shots at a paintball range or something(?)...

To me - 2-3 inch is regular bore'ish. Believe me, after 2", when you go to 3" bore, and actually have the volume (and equally large porting valve capability) to back it up - anything is possible. At 3" I've found SO MANY more objects regularly available on discount store shelves that fit in the barrel than with a 2" or 2.5" barrel. I can now put almost any spray paint container, soda can, or soft drink container in the barrel, where as with 2" - caulk tubes where the gnarliest projectile readily available off-the-shelf.thedeathofall wrote:

I think I'm gonna get a few spray paint can's then shoot them at a solid wall and have a blow torch going near the wall the whole time, so when the spray paint can burst's and reaches the optimum air-to-fuel ratio and it meet's the blow torch flame it will ignite producing a nice flame ball!
Of course that's only one of the many thing's I plan to do with this beast lol, This thing is going to be fun!!
Oh yea, hydraulic lifts are rather slow! they are definitely not out of the budget tho - you can get a 14" stroke beast from harbor freight for like $50. I was easily willing to do that, but the time it would take to actually get it to 14 inches would be forever!
Hotwired - I have considered putting a third wheel on the front support legs, but at the same time I think the resistance they will provide whilst scraping along the ground in recoil of a shot will be beneficial to the accuracy of this beast.
Yea to all - my next design "all metal, semi-auto avalauncher design" sofar is closely based off of this paintball gun I designed -
10 internet's to anyone who can figure out how it works! (clue - it is actually based off of a working design, only a few key points have been changed!)
It's the same setup that AMS(avalanche mitigation services)
uses on the falcon gt avalaunchers, it's what's commonly refered to as a parsanault valve, originally designed for pneumatic pitching machines...
I actually posted the patent for it on another thread....
The falcon gt launcher is what I'm modeling the "decimater" after, and when I get around to getting to work on my big steel gun, it'll be modeled after LOCAT...

If I agree, can I have 1 or 2 internets as a consolation prize?jeepkahn wrote:It's the same setup that AMS(avalanche mitigation services)

I would attempt guessing how your paintball design works.... but i can't tell which bit/s are the bolt? is it just the red portion?

Its a hand pump hydraulic lift. 20 inch stroke and can hold 3 tons. It would take a while to pump up, but might be handy. They also have shorter ones and some that can lift even more. They are really cheap. (some cost only $10) I might even considering getting one if i make something that big.
Then again, this may be what you mean when you say hydraulic lifts (I am thinking about hydraulic cylinders lol)

The design I posted is one I designed myself - if it works similar to the avalauncher that's cool news to me! but from everything I've seen, it doesn't work exactly the same, and this is designed to be magazine or clip fed semi-automatic action, not breech or muzzle fed single shot.jeepkahn wrote:It's the same setup that AMS(avalanche mitigation services)

From pneumatic's that I deal with at school and what my prof's discuss however - it's really just a spool valve when it comes down to it - and that is the nomenclature used everyday in paintball.
However what really separates this design from any patent info I've seen on the web about locat's and avalauncher is the fact that it has a bolt incorporated in the dump chamber, which is CLOSED at a resting position, and it is nothing like a "blowfoward". Well that and alot of other stuff lol.
PM me any patent info you have however - Perhap's there is something I've missed. I'll post up a more "object lauching" specific design in a while, but I'm still toying around with it in SolidWorks right now to see what it'll take exactly. Hopefully I can make an animation of it when it's done design phase to make it easier to understand. Either way I'd like to learn as much as I can about the LOCAT and SEAR/AMS Avalauncher systems of operation so I can better design something of my own.
And yes the bolt is the red portion.
TDOA - That's exactly what I meant, I tried pumping one of those up at the HF store near me... it would take agonizingly long to lift this thing... not to mention at a lot of extra weight.

Is the paintball design based off this?

Yea... you could say it's a simplified/evolved design of that lol.
Finally got my super high tech triggering mechanism for 10 gallon done tonight lol... no more hand operation... now it's string.... ohhh ahhh.
It's noticably higher pitched in the dry fire shots too, so i'd assume I wasn't even venting fast enough for my initial test shots.... only gets better lol

Hey Mobile,
Can we expect any damage videos or pictures anytime soon?
