Theres no telling how much I spent on this thing. Mostly on left overs and parts I ended up not using. I can tell you I spent a lot. With all the stuff I have left over I could almost build another, but all that milling, drilling, filing and sanding is too much effort for what I already have.

I thought about putting this gun in the contest but there are only 2 categories. Penetration and innovative idea. This thing is impressive but I don't think it can compete for Penetration and every time I think I've come up with something new, I do a search and sure enough someone has already thought of it. May be they should come up with a category for just plain cool.

Bolt? For some reason I cant sypher them. Thats worse than trying to figure out how a coaxal design works. I guess I should put a little more effort into learning these things, people seem to like them maybe its worth the effort.
Shoulder stock. Originally it was shaped like a coffin. I should have kept it that way.
You want my machine shop? I want my machine shop too. Its where I work. Wich is kind of ironic that my hobby would keep me at work 7 days a week. Maybe I need to find a new hobby.

From design to completion, this gun exudes elegance. It's definitely a product of much thought and serious machining. It's almost to beautiful to use!

Bear in mind, innovation is not just about new ideas, but new ways of doing things. I'm sure a built in pump like this (very rare to see done efficiently on a spudgun) would have been perfectly acceptable as far as counting for innovation.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I love how you used the head off a small compressor for your check valve/fill tube assembly. I have a couple of junk compressors with heads like that, and it would make a great solution for the pump I'm putting on my next project.
of course, I'm planning on a traditional stirrup-type pump rod, not like the pump assembly you've got going on.

What is the range of motion of the piston inside the pump in terms of inches during one cycle?
Is there any way you could show us the piston outside of the cylinder?
How many cycles does it take to attain say, 300 psi? Probably not too many considering the small chamber volume.

I don't want to take the piston assembly out because i put super glue on the pins to keep them from working their way out and scoring the cylinder walls. I drew this picture to try and show you whats inside. The piston had a piston arm attached to it so I drilled a hole in the end of a nylon rod big enough to allow the piston rod, then drilled another hole to put a pin through the piston rod. There is a little space between the piston and nylon rod to allow the piston to move freely just a little separate from the nylon rod.
Yes I considered making a piston valve, but I've never made one before so I would probably have to make two or three before I found a system I liked. Just so happened that I found this q.e.v. in a junk box at work. It didn't take long to see how the gun could be built around it I guess you could say I took the easy way out.
The q.e.v. and the pump leaked when they got over 300 lbs., so I bought some slightly over size square o rings. I put them on yesterday and pumped it up to 400 lbs. took 75 stokes. then I remembered the tube is only rated at 300 psi, so I ordered some grease gun hose. My pressure gauge goes up to 500 lbs. If I keep pumping something is going to blow. I imagine the piston seal or the pump head valves will go first. What do you guys think?
Just remembered, I ordered a 5 inch black foam blowgun handle to put on the end of the barrel. Just for looks. If I drill a bunch of holes at the end of the barrel under this foam, will it work as a bit of a silencer?
