so you are saying that even something as simple as what you can see in my drawing will work ??

if I understand you correctly there are two possibilities here (well.. actually 3 ):
-add some sort of helix to force air to rotate around the smaller tube, which will centrifugally separate oil
-add some sort of screening material, like wire mesh or stuff used in air intake filters for cars
- mix the two ideas

the biggest advantage of centrifugal oil seperator is higher flow, right ? would I really need it on a fridge compressor ?

Your drawing needs a nozzle on the supply inlet to spin the gas at high speed so the oil mist is thrown against the outside wall. Just going in and dropping down won't do the job. It needs the high speed spin on the way down to separate the oil.

I never used a refrigeration compressor to pump air so I don't know what will happen. When air is compressed water vapor will be present and that is not good for berings. It may be better to just collect it this way to separate it from the air and then blow it off and just top off the oil occasionally. This is what I was going to do at first but I don't want that extra weight. That is why I'm looking at those 12vdc emergency compressors for my launcher.

well I wasn't sure if you were referring to the crankshaft or not... my English is not as good as I would like it to be and I prefer to ask for clarification


I was planning to drain the oil. But now that you mentioned it... I think could drain it to a jar or something and wait for water-oil mixture to seperate and then use the oil... but I think I'll have to find some info on it on the internet, because this just seems to be too simple to be true


well if you are looking for a portable compressor you might be better off with what tech uses...
he bought an inverter and a small air compressor (you'll have to pm him or find the thread where he mentions it)

but if you don't need it to be portable and you are into high pressure guns then the fridge compressor or AC compressor is possibly the best option...

I wish I knew as much about refrigeration as you do... with your knowledge and access to materials you could build one right away

It does run a small refrigerator just fine as long as it is one that doesn't have a heater to auto defrost.
