Hey mates, I have a Challenge for you!

Many people on SpudFiles love to play Paintball or Airsoft, and I am one of them!

Part of Airsoft and Paintball I find fun, is making new things to give me more of an advantage than the next player. One of the things that can give any player an advantage is a Mine. Mines can be useful for attack and defense.

My Challenge to you guys, is
find a way to make a cheap, reliable mine that shoots flour or BB's.

It has to be pneumatic and/or spring powered. No use of explosives or combustion mechanics. It also has to be easily built with no machining (mill, lathe). Just basic hand tools such as a saw, drill, etc...

It can be Trip Wire, Pressure, or any other unique triggering such as remote detonation and others!

I have seen a several designs that look promising, but I am awaiting permission to use/post them on here.
So are you man enough for the challenge?

Are you man enough to spell a title correctly?

I have my theories but no intention of actually building such a manly device..

I do have an idea for a betty style mine, though I would take advantage of the machining facilities I have available. I'll try keep it within the design that it could be done with fairly simple tools.

Wouldn't that risk striking someone in the groin if they happened to be directly over it?

I vote for seagulls.

Risk? Groin injuries were part of the psychological effect of the original S-mine. It didn't necessarily kill, but as it went off at waist height...

Either way, it would work for airsoft fine. Smash one guy in the nuts with the mine, then shoot the rest while they've fallen over laughing.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Just happened to come up with something:

Image

The way it would work;
>> Bury it deep enough for only the raster of barrels to be exposed.
>> In the event that someone steps on the raster, the sharpened piping attached to it will puncture the burst-disc.
>> The pre-stored air from the tank can now go through the ruptured burst-disc and drive each bb out of the individual barrels.

Should produce quite an effect. :D

When employed it would look something like this:

Nail and CO2 cartridge?
Then a bb chamber with vortex block, a barrel wich is allowed to spin around and a venthole on one side of the barrel??

Just like a lawn sprinkler head?

:D

I use photobucket, but I've always hosted the image as a .gif file.

Alright guys, here is an animation of what im going to create here soon...

Animation:
http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/5715 ... mation.swf

and here is a still picture:

Image

The trip wire is pulled, the support piece gets pulled with it and the spring tension is released causing the grey piece to slam down on the co2 cartridge.. there is a sharp point at the bottom that the co2 rests on.. once the gray peice (bolt in my case) is slammed into the co2, it lets out the co2.. it goes up and out the T.. the T can be hooked up to anything..

Here is a link of a land mine that i made.

http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/landmin ... 18727.html

Here is a link to the design, by colty-bear, that i modified to make mine.

http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/my-new- ... 18671.html

And a video of my mine... as you can see it needs the kinks worked out, as it isn't very sensitive...

I'd only springload the first stage of the mine. The pod is fired from the main mine by a soft spring (or even elastic bands) to roughly waist height. A thin cord (carbon braid fishing line) then activates the upper body of the mine to send (shrapnel) in every direction.
