May I introduce you to this:

These things (but then for larger diameters) will look thousand times nicer then that tape.
Otherwise, try tie-wraps.

Is your barrel secured by friction? Like simply shoving the duct-taped barrel end into the coupler?
Thats NOT safe. Get a cam-lock, union or threaded fitting. One day the barrel will blow out and you've got yourself a harpoon gun.

I disagree.

A friction fit barrel will not be dangerous because:

1> If empty there is nothing to push against.

2> The pressure is exerted for less than an inch or so.

All the force will quickly dissipate.

Ok, it WILL not blow out, but it CAN blow out.
Well, my argument against a friction fit barrel:
Ammo can jam.

This can either cause the pressure to push the barrel, or even worse, if ammo is stopped while moving, the inertia will hammer the barrel out.
I'm not saying it will, I just say it could happen.

On top of that I sometimes like to jam ammo tightly into the barrel with a lot of force. "You will fit!"
