Yes, wearing a fluorescent yellow chicken costume :P :D

Actually no - to keep with the spudfiles theme, in an elephant suit, previously soaked in petrol :D

Pink, I presume?
jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:We do :) case in point, there are two types of chrony owner, the ones that have shot their chrony and the ones that will shoot it in the near future ;)
They should pre-shoot the chronies at the factory so that we don't have to do it anymore.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!

Nah, if you had two, what you should do is set them up so they can be used as a 3D camera. 3D slow-motion FTW!

I couldn't help but think the same :D

Also, I just found out that Casio is going to be releasing a couple of improved models in the near future... the EX-FC150 and EX-FH25. They're only releasing them in Japan however...

EDIT: Turns out the article I read was outdated, I think these cameras have already been released...

EDIT EDIT: Damn... it is released, and has a bigger, better sensor which is supposed to be much less noisy, does all the same high speed stuff but 210fps has changed to 240, and they've added a 120fps mode at standard 640x480 resolution... also it can burst at 40fps, doing 9mp images (fc100 can only do 6mp in burst). Sorry JSR

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Or... use one to film the target and use the other to film the display for the other! GENIUS!

Haha, that's hilarious because I had the exact same thought yesterday... Probably influenced by that Simpsons episode where Bart destroys half the town by stacking 20 megaphones end-to-end

If only things were so simple...

Before cleaning out the debris I decided to take advantage of the sunlight and make a couple of videos with my pengun v2, all shot at 1000 fps:

edit: here's a couple done with shots from my Weihrauch HW97K:

Zippo internals at 420 fps:

Similar shot at 1000 fps, I particularly like this one because the impact dislodged the wedge I had put to angle the camera and it seems like it's following the shadow :D

Highspeed tracking!

The earlier ones are kinda neat as well, because while it's not completely clear*, it is just about possible to see the projectile as a faint blur in a couple of the frames.

*Although I do still mean to get back to my plans to try to get a clear picture of a projectile in the air.

The first one is also cool for the fact you can actually see the time difference between the hole in the front of the tin and the hole in the backing behind it.

Very nice.... I doubt you would ever manage to get a shot like that last one if you were actually trying to.

Try filming with the camera looking along the barrel of the gun, I think it's fairly likely you'll be able to track the projectile without much difficulty (particularly if it's large-ish, slower projectile)

I taped the camera to the barrel of my old BBMG, here it is at 1000 fps. You can clearly see the "jackhammer" effect of low pressure BBMGs, the individual shots have very little power, not enough to penetrate the aluminium plate alone, but the concentrated fire at a high rate allows the stream of BBs to tear through anyway.

Very interesting footage there.

Though I have to ask... Why are so many of your targets so bloody cheerful? :D

They know I have a high project failure rate so they sit there smugly thinking "pffft, it'll never work..."

Here's a video from the side showing a 3mm rod fired at 800 psi from my pengun v2 through a cd cover and tin can, you can just see the projectile. It tumbled significantly after hitting the case and actually went through the can sideways

And it still went all the way through :D

You should try shooting at water, with projectiles both skipping on top, and being fired straight down into it.

I fired a small (6mm?) metal bb from a small combustion straight down into a clear container of water, and it left a nice cone-shaped depression in the water as it went through. It would be very interesting to see how various projectiles penetrate through water when launched with your much more powerful launchers/airguns.
