is it possible to refill a propane tank from one of those camping stoves with compressed air and use it as an air tank on a BBMG?

From what I gather they are usually rated to 250 psi or so, at normal (100 psi) compressor pressures it should be perfectly safe, if a little malodourous

If you have a compressor/pump and the right connections, why not? What I would definitely do is flush it out first to make sure there are no lingering propane fumes, otherwise you might just create a hybrid mix....

If you drill out the top and tap it to 1/4"npt you can thread a pipe fitting in and pressurizie it with standard compresser fittings. There is a tread about this in the how to section.

However, if there is propane vapor inside, and you add some air, you've got yourself a closed chamber hybrid.

Actually... most hardware stores sell a fitting that goes from the propane bottle to male 1/4'' NPT fittings.

At least, all the ACE hardware stores ive been to have them, for around 10 bucks.

if you can go from the tank to a NPT fittings (NPT is a flexable hose?) you could put in a T before the hose and put your valve off of that to avoid drilling into the tank. or if you can fill the tank using the tanks existing valve if possible.

That would work, it wont weaken the bottle, but just a warning, the propane bottles have terrible flow

you could drill out the center valve and leave the threaded top pat intact and work from there or you could use it to fill the tank on my gun so flow rate wont matter
