So i started working on Plague again since it is warm enough for pvc and have the valve section almost ready to glue onto the chamber.
most of the work i have done is in the piston
and here are the pics

showing the piston next to the valve body
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9975.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9975.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
the side of the piston as it towers over the 3/4inch piston of my bearing cannon
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9976.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9976.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
sealing face and washer
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9977.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9977.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
rear
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9978.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9978.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
were the piston will be when valve is fully open, im expecting some pretty good flow
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9979.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 4_9979.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
i tired to keep the valve compact and the dead space to a minimum
oh and for those of you who dont know Plague is a 4inch piston valve with 3inch poring, 1600cubic inches of chamber volume, and currently a 15ft 3inch barrel

Is there any reason with the all the discussion on PVC DWV, you used a Y that looks like PVC DWV? I presume this is for very low pressure use?
I'm sure you will hear from the anti DWV crowd soon. I guess I'm leading the charge. Other than that, very nice work. I like it a lot.

I know that you can get pressure rated wye's, even though 90% of wye's you'll see are probably DWV a few online places do sell them. I'm assuming it is PW. The socket depths look pretty good.
But yeah, great job on the cannon. 3" porting will be ridiculous, i'm looking forward to seeing some 500FPS soup cans impacting a nice big concrete wall

Looking good C11 cant wait for another big cannon like that. I'd make one but I don't have enough room for one and no place to fire it. Just curious to know, What will you pilot it with? A sprinkler seems like it might be a wee but too small.
Make sure you make a REALLY REALLY good bumper because that piston looks rather heavy and will tear your cannon to shreds.

Yeah, it's that important.

Agree with Sandman, don't break it again! Maybe a 2" sprinkler would fulfill your needs. The 10 gallon has some competition now!

A 3/4" quick-exhaust valve will most likely be plenty for piloting the valve. Rmich732 (Velocity) piloted his Americannon (4" piston 3" porting) valve with one using a duct-tape wrapped piston.
As for as the DWV, there's no way for me to tell for certain just by looking at these pictures, so you'll have to make sure yourself.

i have no other comments on the dwv issue
and no this will not be ported by a sprinkler! its gonna be ported by a 1.5inch porting shredder valve made by Sgort. so i think the pilot vavle is gonna be big enough
and soup cans arent gonna be the only thing coming out of this, i have a sodacan barrel and that is always fun, and i also have a 18inch long 5/8in diameter sharpened steel rod that i will do penetration tests with

Sched 80. Very nice. My Dragon cannon used some Sched 80 fittings. I remember 3 things about it.
1 It didn't break. ( my wimpy pistons did )
2 It was heavy (very heavy)
3 It was expensive. ( Sched 80 fittings in 4-6 inch cost more than my later launchers in their entirety )

yeah sch 80 is nice but i didnt pay a lot for mine. dura does not make a sch 40 wye, they just put white pvc into the sch 80 mold and sell it as sch 40 for a cheep price, i didnt even know i was getting sch 80 till it arrived
