airsoft LMG help
I'm making a LMG for airsoft and i ran into a problem. I need some ideas on how i should set up the vortex or if i should do something else like a direct feed. I plan on making it have a box mag. Right now i think i should just make a vortex inside a tube then mount it the gun where the rails are. the problem is it wouldn't look good to just have a big round tube thing, i'd rather have it more square. any ideas would be appreciated, i just want the most realistic looking gun and i can't find out how.

sorry, I don't have many tips on the feed system, but i do want to say one thing. Ditch the PVC chamber and get some sort of metal one. this way you can use your pressure washer handle to its full potential Even if you don't have high pressure right now, the moment will arise when you want MOAR power, and then you will be able to go unregged

you can make a coax vortex but in a square tube it should hold up fine because bbmg run on very little chamber pressure, and still look alright
also you get more barrel out of it.

many can handle much more, JSR used one as a main valve with this project at about 800psi.

...and that one is actually rated to 2200 psi

mines rated to a couple thousand psi too. does this mean water pressure and air pressure are the same?jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Lockednloaded wrote:many can handle much more, JSR used one as a main valve with this project at about 800psi.

I think pressure washers generate about 3k psi, at least the ones I've seen do. You say you want a realistic looking gun, check out my Inline Vortex M16 airsoft gun, I managed to make it look realistic, and many upgrades have been made I just haven't got around to posting it yet. If you have questions about how I made certain parts you can just PM me and I can help with the asthetic parts.

Technically, yes, the forces are the same. However, they water and air pressure are not one in the same. As water is already in the liquid phase at STP it is already basically at it's maximum density. It can't be compressed. However, gasses can be compressed and store a LOT of kinetic energy.Marffy wrote:mines rated to a couple thousand psi too. does this mean water pressure and air pressure are the same?jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Lockednloaded wrote:many can handle much more, JSR used one as a main valve with this project at about 800psi.

This is why we hydrotest with incompressible fluids. It applies the same forces, but in the event of failure there's very little energy to be thrown around.
