making my first bbmg hopefully pretty soon. i've drawn up the basically the stock and internal stuff. the biggest question i have is does the bb chamber need to be airtight? if it does then sctrach this idae but here it is anyways.

the "charging Handle" will be a slit cut into some prob 3 inch or 2 inch pipe flattened into a box type of thing hopefully. if that fails then i'll make some pvc sheets. should i be using 2 inch or 3 inch for the stock?

thanks

It should be as airtight as possible, that makes all of the air go out the barrel to push the bb with less air wasted. Also you want it to be as efficient as possible because you are using that backpack tank. The stock on my M16 is 2". It may be a little small but 3" would be too big so I say do some 2". Also, just a note, molding the pvc will weaken it but with a bbmg running on 140 psi the internal pressure will only peak at about 40 psi, so you should be ok. Just make sure it doesn't jam. Still, with all of that air loss, it would be hard to burst :?

So should I rethink the charge handle to be more air edficent? Or just trash the whole idea and put a new thing in to pull the charge handle back. Um I'll prob do sheet PVC cause it will be easier to work with to make the boxy design of the l85

For your first, don't model it after a gun. Make it as air efficient as possible and don't worry about asthetics (besides being careful with primer). I can help you build it if you want. Is this the plan for your first or second?

Ok, the second should be used in the rifle you want to look good. You could make a carbine with it since its only a foot long, but with this long barrel it will be better if you try to go the efficient route.

Fine :P I'll post it here, give me a minute.

EDIT Floating o-ring on a bolt, just need a lock mech in the back to retain it from moving back under pressure. Connect the bolt head to the charging handle.
