hi again everyone.
i am trying to understand the principles around slide/check valves and how many people implement them into QEV guns as a pilot, as i am thinking about using one for my next gun
however i dont really kno much about them and will be ordering one online.
(maybe this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Paintball-Gun-S ... 3f08799d74)
from what i kno already (i think) a check valve only allows air to flow through it in one direction, like a fill valve.
I dont understand how these are implemented as a pilot for qevs for semi-auto? and how they are operated?
sorry for the noobish question i have just never worked with them before.
any help would be much appreciated
thanks again

I explained slide valves recently here
It's basically a three way valve that governs your pilot.
"rest position" connects it to the fill line and closes it off from the atmosphere.
"fire position" closes off the fill line and opens the pilot to the atmosphere.
In practice, just connect the fill line to one end and QEV to the other.

you dont need a check valve you need a slide valve sometimes called a sleeve valve. hears a link to one.
the pilot in that drawing is how a slide valve works and how you set it up with a qev

What you want is a large main chamber attached to the slide valve, and a small "firing chamber" containing just enough air for one shot - say one or two times you barrel volume - attached to the chamber side of your QEV.

That one is BSP threads though. Which I guess is okay, if you live in that part of the world.
