Hey guys, new to this forum, but have been reading the post for several months.

Just want to make sure I got the basic mechanism for full auto and semi auto right

yeah, that's right... though if you can build a circuit that turns a solenoid valve on/off in a loop you can build a fullauto QEV + 3 way combo

He means that if you use a solenoid 3 way valve in your second diagram that is electrically operated, you can make a timer circuit that converts it to full auto.

Also by slightly modifying a QEV and using a pop-off valve as a pilot, you can get it to cycle full auto as in my recent example:
