Any suggestions on converting a gas mag? I just got a new one, and I can't get any gas for it (no one sells it, and my mom won't let me get propane so I can't get an adapter), and I thought about converting it to air power. So any suggestions?

Its for a pistol though, and I don't want to ruin it too badly. I would do that if I had a GBB rifle.

Ok. I just tried putting a schrader on the seal at the top of the mag where the gas exits, pushing the gas release button and filling from there. I got 3 shots off! Now to figure out how to make this a bit easier to fill...

Actually I would do exactly what Jake said.. That's what most airsofters do, except they attach CO2 to the quick connect, but either gas type will work..

Except I don't want to screw the mag up. I want to be able to still use gas when I can, because it keeps a constant pressure, and turns to liquid.

Propane is the same thing as green gas sans silicon oil. Tell that to your mom. It is the only low pressure gas airsofters use now because you can't get green gas anywhere. Propane has also been tested vs green gas and ruled superior.

Buy a propane adapter (you'll use it when you get propane anyways) and hook it up to an air source. The threads are 5/8 flare I think. You can somehow get that size down to a 1/4" schraeder valve and pump it with a bike pump. I wouldn't put more than 200 psi; not sure the gun can handle it. The magazine is definitely safe at 200 though.

I have an adapter, but I can't use it because I don't have the propane. I will see about getting a 5/8" flare fitting though.

Take the fill valve out, and check the thread, if its m5, replace it with a m5 quick connect.

Then attach an external air system.

The other way I have done it, is to drill and tap a m5 hole in the bottom , then attach the quick connect.

It can be converted back to a normal mag by replacing the Quick connect with a M5 bolt

Yeah, head over to your hardware store and try the different fittings. I'm sure you can figure out a way to convert it. Lazyboy has the right idea though. Plus, replacement mags can't be too expensive so you could have one for air and one for propane.

Gun Freak, this mag cost me $20, $30 including shipping. I don't exactly want to screw it up until the fill valve breaks.

If you drill and tap it out to standard threads you can fill it with both air and propane.

What other options? I don't exactly want to drill it out.

Why do you need more options? You can use the propane adapter with air or modify the actual mag somehow. There aren't many ways to do it.
