A short piece of 2x4, dryer vent screw clamp and a 2" hole saw will work wonders...

I didnt even bother with a barrel support on my cannon. But you could bevel a piece of wood and clamp barrel and chamber together with a hose clamp.

They keep the brittle PVC barrel from flexing during firing... it's something to bother with.

I understand what they are for, just didnt see the need as my barrel has no bend or lag to it.Straitvas an arrow and does not move.If it were longer like 10 feet then I would.be all for the support.

Only shooting golf balls with a barrel 5' or less, you're probably OK but when you're shooting a heavy projectile or a more powerful cannon, you should definitely use one. I realise this is an extreme example, but the ABS barrel I used to use on my hybrid was more or less rigid and didn't sag, yet when firing the thing looked like an arrow shaft mid-flight. It was a bit scary to see it played back on video.

edit: Oh and the barrel on my hybrid even had a support half way down its length; imagine how much it would flex if I had used none at all

I think I only saw it when I went frame-by-frame on the raw footage; don't think I uploaded a slow-mo version in one of my videos.
