In this situation it's more 'majority rules' than 'wisdom of the crowd'. I think that wisdom of the crowd would only represent the current status of a taboo (in this case) in society (assuming the sample is representative). It's not really a decision made due to innate function but instead cultural influence. Also, this is measuring the responses to a dichotomy that doesn't have a definitive truth like the weight of an ox or the number of jelly beans, so it's not a pool of estimates that would be expected to have a normal distribution (or even close to a ND; see below). Further, in this instance 82% of the people are 'right' (judging by current societal laws) whereas, in the true wisdom of the crowd, no one may be right but 68% of people's estimates would fall within a standard deviation of the true 'mean' if the sample had a ND. Though, in the case of the jelly beans especially, the distribution is probably right skewed since some people guessed as high as 30,000 but the lowest guesses were in the 400s or so.With that I'd bring up the wisdom of the crowd.
