Howdy folks,
I'm looking around an idea that could send out a .25 or .22 pellet out in the 1000 fps range. I have fairly good epoxy skills, and I plan on making a wooden stock. I also plan on rifling out the barrel and building a pump but for now I have a co2 bike pump. I really DONT want to carry around a paintball air tank. My ideas;
a Single shot coaxial with higher pressure (300+ psi)
a hammer valve, bolt action with a small magazine. Again with higher pressures.
a (homemade) spring loaded QEV hooked up to a blow gun and a big tank.
It needs to be compact so it fits all into the rifle stock. Ive also been thinking about varying the pressure to make an airsoft gun but that's just a though. I was also looking into hybrid cannons. Maybe even a pneumatic using a burst disc.
I know someone's going to say " just buy a PCP air rifle" I would but I don't have the money, and I enjoy building things.
Nick

The simple answer to high velocity without needing high pressure storage is to go hybrid. Have a look at the performance I got from this tiny thing: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/mini-hy ... 21655.html

I've read your post a few times and really like it. Looks sweet. The couple worries that I had were what materials to use for that chamber. Also what I could use as a spark. I really don't want to use the BBQ spark igniter either, so maybe a few batteries and two wires sticking out from the chamber through the epoxy and complete the circuit with a trigger touching one of the wires.

In that case, not a problem for the hybridtigerblues28 wrote:I have fairly good epoxy skills
I found that the ignitor from a common cigarette lighter can ignite mixes up to 15x reliably as long as your spark gap is small enough.I really don't want to use the BBQ spark igniter either
Not enough voltage just using batteries, you need to step thing up a bit, using a circuit from a stun gun, disposable camera or oven ignitor.maybe a few batteries and two wires sticking out from the chamber through the epoxy and complete the circuit with a trigger touching one of the wires.

Alrighty. Ill have to talk a look at them. Ill have to hook up a trigger so it clicks the button. I don't like the idea of the push button bull ill have a look.
I think if I make the push button igniter I think ill make a waterproof box in in stock or handle somewhere.

It might seem a bit daunting but once you grasp the fundamentals it's quite simple, and the power... oh the power. Pneumatics just don't come close. Once you go hybrid you can never look at pneumatics the same way again...

Haha right. I think ill add a scope so do you think I should add a extra layer of steel tube over everything for safety and a good visual.
