been searching a while but can't find an answer to my specific question - so apologies if it has already been answered
i have been designing a project similar to a cloud gun, but instead of using a "blowgun" valve like this one HERE my potential project won't have the room at the trigger end to use this, so i am thinking of doing it electronically.
my question is, and bear with me while i try to explain it, could i use something like THIS to achieve the following - press trigger, valve opens allowing propellant through until I let go the trigger, when the valve will close thus stopping the flow of propellant? i'm not interested in "pulsing" the valve open, which i suppose would be semi auto, but need to keep the valve open, which i suppose would be full auto until i let go of the trigger? my propellant will be regulated CO2, but in its gaseous form as it will already have been fed through an expansion chamber
3way, 5way any way solenoid question?

The coil opens and closes the valve.
If the coil is on the valve is open.
If the coil is off the valve is closed.
The valve will stay open if the coil is connected to power.
The valve will stay closed if the coil is not connected to power.
Yes it will work as you wish. The valve staying open until you release the trigger/ switch. I'm tired and paranoid of dyslexia.

No you couldn't, not with that valve. this will work.could i use something like THIS to achieve the following - press trigger, valve opens allowing propellant through until I let go the trigger

Lose a little at quality but will work too.

That valve has a hole go through the two ports (so they can be connected into a manifesto). When connected to power it just leaks through the top. Totally useless.

coming back to this project after a while away (commitments, time etc.)wyz2285 wrote:No you couldn't, not with that valve. this will work.could i use something like THIS to achieve the following - press trigger, valve opens allowing propellant through until I let go the trigger
going back to the valve that I linked to HERE, I have a question about the working pressure specs - it claims a working pressure of 1.5~8kgf which according to my maths is around 22PSI? I will be using regged CO2 to a pressure of around 600PSI so will this valve handle it? it's a real noob question I know

At those pressures, not a chance. It won't explode, but it won't work. If you want a high pressure solenoid valve, I'm afraid it's going to cost a bit more than that.spaspeckerthedull wrote:I have a question about the working pressure specs - it claims a working pressure of 1.5~8kgf which according to my maths is around 22PSI? It would probably be cheaper to get a manually operated three way valve and add a solenoid actuator yourself.
Very political for a pneumatic setupwyz2285 wrote:(so they can be connected into a manifesto)
I know, I know, you meant manifold, stupid auto correct
