I am going to attempt to put a stun circuit into a project box, Replacing the slider power switch for a toggle and the rocker momentary switch for a standard momentary button, Any way before i get into other details of what i need. First I need to find out how to discharge the cap in the stun gun I have it opened when doing so i broke one of the tangs off one of the leads on the cap. So before i attempt any soldering on anything I am asking what is a safe effective way of discharging the cap.

Thanks

I forgot to mention that there is two wires coming into the cap from the bottom also, i will try to get a pic later.
Thanks

I have read that just by doing the screwdriver thing you could risk the possibility of blowing the lowest resistor...anyway here is the pics

Well how big is the capacitor rated at? Couldnt you find a load, such as a light bulb, motor, resitor etc and hook it up till the cap is discharged completely? I know that technically the screwdriver approach would work, but it is not good for the cap and is dangerous if the screwdriver becomes airborne. Im not sure how big the cap is but on big ones when you discharge them that way they will throw things pretty far.

Use a meaty resistor, like 2 kOhm, and let each lead touch the contacts for a while, it should discharge it slowly. After like 5 minutes the voltage should be low enough that you can screwdriver it without blowing a hole in the screwdriver head. Oh, and don't look at it or wear welding goggles if you do decide to short it out

:white stuff pours out of piston: "What is that? It looks like milk."
"....Well... it's not milk."
